Requirements
  • ASNT certification in Visual Testing Level II and Liquid Penetrant Testing Level II, or previous certification documents quantifying on-the-job training experience.
  • Magnetic Particle Level II certification is strongly desired.
  • A two-year certification from a college or technical school, five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong familiarity with raw material requirements, non-destructive testing, calibration, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing under ASME Y14.5, bills of materials, military specifications, manufacturing, and related technical documentation.
  • Ability to pass a vision acuity examination.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and support other non-destructive testing inspectors in their daily activities.
  • Ability to secure a government security clearance if required.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable export-control and International Traffic in Arms Regulations, or otherwise be authorized under U.S. law to access export-controlled information.
Responsibilities
  • Perform non-destructive testing and properly document results according to customer and Granite State Manufacturing requirements.
  • Review non-destructive testing and weld records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Review contracts, blueprints, and customer and industry specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and applicable inspection and test criteria.
  • Prepare and review technical reports for accuracy.
  • Verify conformance to specifications, including angular dimensions, radii, contours, clearances, thread lead, and surface finish.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, height gages, fillet gages, and other measurement tools.
  • Document inspection and test results for first-run parts, assemblies, finished products, and other items.
  • Verify raw materials, including critical-application materials, by reviewing chemical and physical data in certified material test reports.
  • Witness tests and manufacturing activities to ensure report accuracy.
  • Examine defective parts to determine root causes and recommend changes or modifications.
  • Support customer and government source inspections.
  • Validate that subcontracted operations, including heat treatment, plating, and testing, satisfy purchase order requirements.
  • Support activities related to execution of the Quality Management System.
  • Work in all areas of operation as directed by leadership.
  • Assist other departments in supporting product conformity.
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships.
  • Follow company policies, safety practices, and applicable U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.
  • Support product conformity through collaboration with managers, directors, and workers.
