So what will you be doing all day? You would join us as a Fire Code Consultant working on things like...
- Working directly with clients to solve problems and create safe and code-compliant buildings
- Developing code approach reports and life safety plans for assigned projects
- Developing alternate means and methods design approaches where prescriptive code compliance cannot be met
- Managing fire and smoke modeling for smoke control systems and other performance-based analyses
- Providing coordination of project designs with other disciplines
- Maintaining positive client relationships
- Traveling for detailed site investigations and client meetings
- Sharing technical information with teammates
- Learning and expanding technical and soft skill sets
- Responding to code comments and resolving permit issues with code officials
- Developing proposals for prospective projects
- Evolving technical details, specifications, and application guidelines
- Resolving construction conflicts and answering questions from contractors
- Surveying and observing fire protection and code-related installations on-site and via video
- Completing project "punch-list" and assisting in resolving owner and contractor conflicts
- Assisting other-discipline teammates to successfully integrate multiple disciplines into assigned projects
We’d love for you to apply for this position if you ...
- Have a Bachelor of Science Degree in relevant Engineering, Architecture, or Construction. A technical degree or certification and strong relevant experience may commensurate for Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Being registered as a professional engineer (P.E.) having passed the fire protection engineering written examination administered by the (NCEES) is preferred
- Have a minimum 5 years of Fire Code Consultancy experience.
- Possess relevant professional experience in, and a passion for healthcare and hospital projects
- Experience with joint commission review and surveys (preferred)
- Have experience with AutoCAD and Revit applications
- Possess experience with fire modeling software, such as Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), Pathfinder, and/or CONTAM.
- Are proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Possess successful verbal and written communication skills
- Have comprehensive knowledge of building and fire codes, including IBC, IFC, NFPA 101, and NFPA 99
- Have the ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design
- Moderate travel to job sites as needed
Anticipated salary range for this position may be $65,000 - $94,000
Salary may be higher or lower than the stated range depending on factors unrelated to the applicant’s race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ethnicity, age, or disability. Salary can vary from this range based on geographic cost of labor statistical differentials.
