About the team and position
Carvana’s operations are complex and benefit from data, analysis, reporting, and process improvements. An ideal candidate will support our operations by understanding workflows, identifying areas of opportunity, and utilizing their technical skills to solve problems and improve processes, while providing visibility into the business unit.
This person should be excited to leverage his/her analytical and technical skills to make an immediate and meaningful impact on the business. We have no shortage of data, resources or ambition at Carvana, and we are excited to bring on people who share our desire to leverage data and technology to accelerate our disruption of the traditional car buying experience.
Work Location
This role is located in our Tempe, AZ headquarters. Carvana offers a hybrid work schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home/remote. Candidates must live in the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area.
What you’ll be doing
- Gather, analyze, and interpret information and data by studying business functions, speaking with cross-functional stakeholders, and using analytics, research methodologies, and statistical techniques.
- Utilize business intelligence related tools and concepts such as Tableau, SQL (through MSSQL Server), relational database design, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Excel, Python, etc. to solve operational problems.
- Build dashboards using Tableau to explain/communicate performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Interpret, evaluate, and interrelate underlying data of our inventory quality, vehicle data and inventory management and partner with operational leaders to plan and prioritize critical projects.
- Monitor and correct outliers to ensure vehicles are appropriately placed within the supply chain and identify trends to reduce errors at large.
- Develop actionable recommendations for the business, processes, workflow, or other improvements to meet the needs and objectives of cross-functional partners (logistics, titles, market operations).
- Regularly update leadership on performance and general business updates.
What you should have
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Math, Supply Chain, Computer Science or similar field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience working in a consulting, banking, or high-growth startup environment in a data analytics role.
- Proficiency in excel modeling, SQL, Python and Tableau.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and operate with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Flexibility to move and shake with competing and changing priorities.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, data science, and business teams and communicate across them in a clear and concise manner understood by all.
- Enthusiasm and positive energy to contribute to and thrive in a rapidly growing start-up atmosphere where roles continually adapt as the company evolves.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
