Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional information technology experience, including architecture design, software engineering, system integration, and database-focused solution development, is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with VistA or other MUMPS-based systems, including FileMan structures and cross-system interfaces, is required.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle or SQL Server in UNIX, VMS, and/or Windows environments is required.
  • Proven ability to design and analyze system architectures, especially within complex healthcare environments, is required.
  • Experience with VistA database environments, relational database technologies, Python-based automation and tools, data integration solutions, and enterprise network protocols is required.
  • Ability to meet federal security requirements and obtain and maintain a government-granted security clearance is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design, evaluate, implement, test, and manage technical architecture solutions across VistA and integrated systems.
  • Develop architecture strategies, conduct feasibility studies, and lead integration analyses for enterprise VA systems.
  • Independently gather and define architecture requirements, ensuring compatibility and compliance with VA, EHRM, and enterprise standards.
  • Analyze architecture components and database structures, conduct risk assessments, and define architectures for testing and staging environments.
  • Manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently with high attention to detail.
  • Produce clear, comprehensive architectural and technical analysis reports with minimal supervision.
  • Utilize established enterprise architecture tools, repositories, and governance processes to capture and maintain architecture artifacts and documentation.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings with VA customers, contract teammates, VA project teams, and technical stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Existing VA network access.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, VA, or Department of Defense systems, particularly in architecture or engineering roles.
  • Experience with Python, Java, or Java Platform, Enterprise Edition applications.
  • Familiarity with HP Quality Center, Rational ClearQuest, or risk-based testing methodologies.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence-assisted development, automated analytics, or intelligent testing tools.
  • Understanding of Representational State Transfer/Simple Object Access Protocol interfaces, Health Level Seven/Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources data exchange, and legacy-to-modern system integrations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with communication tools such as Teams and SharePoint.
  • Experience working in UNIX, virtual machine, and Windows environments.
