Requirements
  • Certified, registered, or licensed veterinary technician credential (CVT, RVT, or LVT).
  • Specialty experience is required.
  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient vital signs and report abnormalities to the doctor of veterinary medicine.
  • Perform venipuncture in accordance with doctor of veterinary medicine safety standards.
  • Collect diagnostic samples, imaging, blood pressure, electrocardiogram, and oxygen saturation data for analysis, understand normal parameters, and support diagnostic preparation and communication with veterinarians.
  • Collect and submit diagnostic samples to outside laboratories according to proper procedures.
  • Assist with placement and maintenance of intravenous catheters.
  • Assist veterinarians with chemotherapy administration and procedures, including anesthetic protocol development, pre-medication and induction-agent administration, intubation, surgical preparation, general-anesthesia maintenance and monitoring, surgical assistance, post-anesthetic recovery care, and anesthesia-monitoring documentation.
  • Follow protocols for administering and documenting controlled substances given to patients.
  • Calculate and administer intravenous chemotherapy medications.
  • Communicate with clients throughout their visits, including triage, discharge, and medical updates for hospitalized patients.
  • Discharge patients by filling medications, ensuring patients are clean and comfortable, removing intravenous catheters, approving final invoices, and reviewing discharge instructions with pet owners.
  • Document medical records according to hospital policy and veterinary medical board standards.
  • Provide ongoing support to team members, patients, and clients while maintaining professional conduct.
  • Follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration protocols and complete related training within designated timelines.
  • Perform other duties assigned by leadership and direct supervisors during shifts.
