Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or another relevant engineering discipline is required.
  • At least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Demonstrated application of Lean manufacturing concepts to drive results is required.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.
  • Understanding of general fabrication principles and practices is required.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical assemblies is required.
  • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints is required.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the year is required.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes in the plant and support multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, Lean manufacturing, and quality control standards.
  • Analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and equipment layout for maximum efficiency.
  • Research manufacturing trends and new technology, and recommend improvements to current production methods where advantageous.
  • Implement production-process changes to improve safety, quality, and delivery, and reduce operating costs.
  • Facilitate and apply Lean Manufacturing principles in all manufacturing facilities and participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Manage capital projects from project definition through contractor quoting and selection, project execution, and final implementation.
  • Support the company safety program by applying ergonomics and machine-guarding principles to establish new processes or review existing processes.
  • Participate in assigned projects within or related to manufacturing.
  • Develop documentation and procedures to support manufacturing functions.
  • Apply a methodical problem-solving approach to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions for production problems.
  • Work on quality engineering activities as directed or based on organizational needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methodology.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Understanding and experience with electromechanical assembly, welding, machining, and painting.
  • Experience with incoming inspection of materials and parts, in-process inspection, and functional testing of completed assemblies.
  • Project management experience specifying, procuring, and setting up new manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience solving production problems related to equipment, products, or manufacturing processes.
  • Experience scoping, installing, and configuring robotics and automation, including robotic welding processes.
