Who We Are
Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro is a leading autonomous technology company with vehicles on road today in California and Texas. The company’s core technology is the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system consisting of state-of-the-art, AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware. The first commercial application of the Nuro Driver is autonomous goods delivery with our custom, electric, zero-occupant vehicles in partnership with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Uber and FedEx.
About the Team
The planner integration team sits right at the center of our autonomy stack and is responsible formaking the right behavior decisions in challenging environments, and ensuring our trajectories are safe while still making progress and interacting appropriately with other road users. This is one of the most challenging, exciting and also rewarding tasks of the autonomy stack, since you are involved from the design stage to evaluation and implementation, while also immediately seeing the results of your work.
About the Work
- Research and develop novel algorithms that solve the most challenging and exciting prediction, motion planning and decision making problems in autonomous driving, including interactive planning, sampling based methods and search based methods, planning under uncertainty, and combining data-driven techniques with traditional model-based methods
- Collaborate closely with engineers across machine learning, perception, mapping and localization, autonomy systems, and infrastructure
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship for junior members of the behavior planning team
- Write robust, production-ready software to make our vehicle safe and predictable in complex driving scenarios
About You
- PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, mechanical/aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, with 2+ years of relevant industry experience or M.S. with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven ability to collaborate within and across teams
- Proven ability to lead technical development for safety critical planning systems for autonomous driving.
- Demonstrated effective skills in managing projects involving cross-functional groups.
- You also have at least one of the following:
Research experience in one of:
