Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience as a Registered Nurse with strong clinical knowledge and experience in the specific areas of work for data abstraction is required.
  • A minimum of two years of data abstraction experience and a minimum of one year within the department, or certification in Quality or Data Abstraction by either the National Association for Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or the American Society for Quality (CQIA), is required.
  • Excellent critical thinking, reading comprehension, and communication skills are required.
  • The ability to establish cooperative working relationships with diverse groups and individuals across disciplines is required.
  • Certification must be obtained where applicable, and memberships in appropriate quality or registry-related organizations must be maintained where applicable.
  • Additional qualifications may be required by some registries.
  • Computer and internet skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, are essential.
  • A registered nurse license from the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Employment authorization is verified through the federal E-Verify program for newly hired employees.
Responsibilities
  • Support the strategic, clinical, and operational functions of the Heart & Vascular service line.
  • Blend clinical expertise with program management to support high-quality patient care, efficient workflows, regulatory compliance, and interdisciplinary collaboration across cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and related specialties.
  • Act as a clinical resource, program strategist, patient advocate, and liaison between nursing, physicians, administration, and ancillary departments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic statistical knowledge and quality improvement experience are preferred.
