Requirements
  • Deep subject matter expertise in intellectual property, data rights, and contracting.
  • Understanding of cloud services, managed services, and software development.
  • Command of software and service deployment models, technology partnerships, and resale arrangements.
  • Experience designing, operationalizing, and implementing go-to-market, monetization, and compliance strategies for technology solutions.
  • Familiarity with secure software development frameworks, open-source licenses, compliance tools, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to drive complex, cross-functional projects to successful completion.
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating government and commercial terms of service and other types of agreements and policies.

  • Active membership in a state bar; candidates who are not members of the Virginia State Bar must have or obtain a corporate counsel certificate from the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners or register as in-house counsel with the Virginia State Bar.
  • At least 5 years of legal experience concentrated in intellectual property, software or cloud service product counseling, artificial intelligence, and/or government contracting.
Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply evolving legal requirements, government policy, and industry best practices relating to intellectual property, Federal data rights, artificial intelligence, open-source software, and secure software development.
  • Partner with product or asset, proposal, delivery, contracting, pricing, cybersecurity, and supply chain teams to develop commercialization paths.
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate contracts, terms of use, and templates for emerging software, software as a service, and managed services.
  • Advise on intellectual property protection, inbound and outbound intellectual property licensing, strategic partnerships, and resolution of intellectual property disputes.
  • Manage intercompany intellectual property initiatives and transfers in coordination with global intellectual property and asset licensing teams.
  • Lead efforts involving open-source software, technology partnerships, integration of acquired technologies, asset and service readiness and delivery, and responsible artificial intelligence by developing mitigation strategies and preparing periodic risk assessments.
  • Synthesize complex legal analysis into clear, consistent, and actionable business recommendations.
  • Assess risk efficiently and drive change to achieve business and legal objectives.
  • Collaborate with executives and technical teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Five to ten or more years of legal experience in technology transactions, intellectual property, data rights, and/or data governance, focused on U.S. federal business for companies delivering software, software as a service, managed services, and/or other outsourced services.
  • Prior experience in a law firm, the legal department of a technology or professional services company, or a relevant U.S. government role.
  • Relevant industry or legal certifications.
  • Experience applying Federal Acquisition Regulation, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement, other agency supplements, and rules on safeguarding and disseminating Controlled Unclassified Information.
  • Experience supporting asset, proposal, and/or delivery teams in professional services, defense, intelligence, national security, or software development sectors.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and proactive commitment to professional development in rapidly evolving technology fields.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance in the future if needed.

Accenture drops LearnVantage focus, shifts $9B to cybersecurity and mid-market expansion

Accenture is shifting its growth strategy, de-emphasising LearnVantage, a learning and training business it built and promoted heavily in 2024. The company mentioned LearnVantage only once on its June 2026 earnings call, listing it amongst AI enablers rather than highlighting it as a standalone growth driver. Meanwhile, Accenture is redirecting resources toward cybersecurity, which has grown from $700 million in fiscal 2016 to $10 billion in fiscal 2025. The company is acquiring a majority stake in an operational technology security specialist, alongside two smaller firms, combining them into a platform for critical infrastructure. These assets generate $208 million in annual recurring revenue, growing at 48%. Accenture's acquisition budget for fiscal 2026 is approximately $9 billion against $73.1 billion in trailing twelve-month revenue. The company has also launched Accenture Edge, targeting mid-market companies. The stock is down 24.3% over the past year.

Accenture acquires Dutch SAP partner McCoy to boost mid-market AI and ERP capabilities

Accenture has agreed to acquire McCoy, a Dutch SAP transformation partner specialising in mid-market companies. Upon closing, McCoy will join Accenture Edge, the firm's mid-market business serving companies with annual revenues between $300 million and $3 billion. Founded in 2012, McCoy operates from the Netherlands with offices in Spain and the Philippines. The company employs over 380 professionals who design, implement and manage SAP solutions across ERP, data and business applications. McCoy holds SAP Gold Partner status and serves clients in high-tech, manufacturing, public sector, utilities and retail. The acquisition will strengthen Accenture Edge's position in the EMEA mid-market whilst expanding SAP modernisation capabilities in the Netherlands. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
