Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Atmospheric Science, Environmental Engineering, Meteorology, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in air quality modeling and permitting
  • Expert-level knowledge of AERMOD and regulatory modeling procedures
  • Proficient in meteorological data processing tools (AERMET, MMIF, WRF, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of federal and state air permitting programs (e.g., PSD, NSR, Title V)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams
Responsibilities
  • Lead air dispersion modeling projects using AERMOD, CALPUFF, and other EPA-approved models
  • Conduct PSD, NAAQS, and air toxics impact assessments
  • Prepare technical reports, modeling protocols, and permit application support documents
  • Interface with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to guide modeling strategies and compliance pathways
  • Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior staff and modelers
  • Stay abreast of evolving air quality regulations and modeling guidance
  • Support business development by contributing to proposals and client presentations
  • Ensure quality assurance/quality control in all modeling work products
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with modeling software customization or scripting (e.g., Python, R, Shell scripting)
  • Prior consulting experience with industrial or energy sector clients
  • Professional licensure (PE, CM, etc.) is a plus
