CAE reported first quarter fiscal 2027 results with revenue of $1,173.4 million, up 6.8% year-over-year from $1,098.6 million. Earnings per share declined to $0.10 from $0.18 in the prior year, whilst adjusted EPS remained flat at $0.26. The Montreal-based company generated free cash flow of $104.0 million and maintained a net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio of 2.27x. Civil Aviation revenue rose 5.6% to $641.6 million, though profitability decreased. Defence and Security revenue increased 8.3% to $531.8 million with continued margin expansion. CAE's transformation plan progressed during the quarter, including a review of strategic alternatives for Flightscape and plans to close four to six Civil training centres. The company targets $125 million to $150 million in annual transformation run-rate savings by fiscal 2030. Management maintained its unchanged fiscal 2027 outlook.
CAE reported Q4 earnings of $0.31 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.30 per share and marking the third time in four quarters the company has surpassed expectations. This represents a 2.75% earnings surprise, though results declined from $0.33 per share a year ago. The civil and military flight simulator company posted revenues of $967.18 million for the quarter ended March 2026, surpassing estimates by 2.58% and up from $888.39 million year-over-year. Despite the earnings beat, CAE shares have declined 12.1% year-to-date, underperforming the S&P 500's 8.6% gain. The company currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), indicating shares are expected to perform in line with the market near-term.
CAE reported higher fourth-quarter and full-year revenue for fiscal 2026, but weaker civil aviation training conditions, Middle East conflict disruption and transformation costs pressured profitability. CEO Matthew Bromberg described fiscal 2027 as a "reset year" as the company pursues restructuring to improve margins and returns by fiscal 2030. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 4% to CAD 1.3 billion, whilst adjusted segment operating income fell to CAD 211.8 million from CAD 258.8 million. Full-year revenue increased 4% to CAD 4.9 billion, with adjusted segment operating income down 3% to CAD 710.7 million. The company generated CAD 473.8 million in free cash flow, representing a 123% conversion rate compared to less than 50% average from fiscal 2022 through 2025.
CAE reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of $1.33 billion with adjusted earnings per share of $0.42. Full-year revenue reached $4.9 billion with adjusted EPS of $1.20. The Montreal-based company unveiled a transformation plan targeting annual run-rate savings of $125 million to $150 million by fiscal 2030. CAE aims to achieve adjusted segment operating income of $950 million to $1 billion by fiscal 2030 with strong cash conversion. President and CEO Matthew Bromberg acknowledged challenges including a softer civil training market and Middle East volatility, but highlighted strategic progress in defence partnerships. The company is updating key operating metrics to strengthen capital discipline and operational performance whilst reinforcing a culture of accountability across the organisation.
CAE has announced a strategic review of Flightscape, its aviation software business, exploring options including partnerships, investments or a complete sale. The move, announced on 11 May 2026, forms part of a broader portfolio optimisation as CAE seeks to focus on core simulation and training operations. The company views Flightscape's maturity as a cloud-native SaaS platform as potentially better suited to alternative ownership structures. The review comes alongside ongoing share buybacks that have retired approximately 856,000 shares since May 2024. CAE's narrative projects CA$5.3 billion revenue and CA$619.3 million earnings by 2029, requiring 2.9% annual revenue growth. Analysts suggest the review could reshape CAE's balance between high-growth software and capital-intensive hardware operations, particularly given the company's elevated debt levels.
