From documents to decisions: How Aker Solutions plans smarter with visual collaboration.

From documents to decisions: How Aker Solutions plans smarter with visual collaboration. Engineering projects are becoming more complex, with more stakeholders involved and more data to align. As a result, decisions need to be made earlier and with greater confidence. At Aker Solutions, project teams have traditionally worked with large volumes of documentation. While necessary, documentation alone does not always create the shared understanding complex projects require. The company wanted a better way to align teams early in the process. A way to improve planning, reduce uncertainty, and support better decisions before work moves offshore. Together with Cyviz, Aker Solutions established a visualization and simulation center designed for collaboration. The environment brings engineering, simulation, and decision making into the same space, allowing teams to work visually, run interactive simulations, and collaborate across multiple rooms at the same time. One of the main objectives was to move more planning onshore. Offshore work is costly and carries higher risk. Onshore simulation makes it possible to test scenarios, identify issues early, and explore alternatives before execution. As Arun Joshi at Aker Solutions explains, it is far better to fail virtually than in reality. What started as a solution primarily intended for technical workshops and engineering reviews has since evolved into something more. Today, the visualization rooms are used across the organization for project coordination, design reviews, and cross functional collaboration. The strong adoption came as a positive surprise. The visual environment makes complex information easier to understand and lowers the threshold for participation. It helps teams align faster and communicate more effectively, regardless of role or discipline. The center also plays an important role in collaboration with partners and customers, including Aker BP. Working in a shared visual environment makes it easier to plan, test, and refine solutions together before operations are carried out elsewhere. Looking ahead, Aker Solutions sees the visualization center as a platform for future growth. It supports new project types, interactive simulations, training scenarios, and emerging use cases across energy and new industries. By combining visual collaboration with engineering expertise, Aker Solutions has created a practical foundation for better planning, safer execution, and more effective teamwork. High impact solutions. Cyviz is next level collaboration. PureField Ingredients wins EPA approval for Kansas Carbon Capture project.

PureField Ingredients wins EPA approval for Kansas Carbon Capture project. April 14, 2026 BY Purefield Ingredients PureField Ingredients has received approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to begin permanent underground storage of carbon dioxide from its Russell, Kansas, facility, positioning the company among the world's lowest carbon-intensity ethanol producers. The EPA granted PureField the first Class VI well permit issued in Kansas, allowing the company to permanently sequester carbon dioxide generated during ethanol fermentation. Company officials said carbon capture and sequestration operations will begin immediately following final commissioning of the system. "This is a defining moment for PureField to meet our commitment to serve Kansas farmers and our customers in the U.S. and around the world," said CEO Aaron Buettner. He said the project combines advanced wheat-based feedstocks with permanent carbon storage to reduce emissions while maintaining food and fuel production. PureField operates an integrated system that processes Kansas-grown wheat into functional food ingredients, ethanol and animal feed. Carbon dioxide produced during fermentation is captured and injected underground for long-term storage. The company said its residual wheat starch feedstock already has a lower carbon intensity than traditional biofuel pathways, and the addition of carbon capture could allow its ethanol to achieve net-zero or net-negative carbon intensity under certain methodologies. PureField estimates the facility supports demand for about 20 million bushels of Kansas wheat and sorghum annually while producing domestic wheat protein, reducing reliance on imports that currently supply most U.S. demand. Buettner said the approval strengthens the company's role as a long-term employer in Russell and supports further investment tied to low-carbon food and fuel production. April 14, 2026 Microsoft has agreed to purchase 626,000 metric tons of carbon removal credits over 15 years from an Indigenous-owned bioenergy with carbon capture project in Saskatchewan. The deal represents Microsoft's first Canadian BECCS carbon removal agreement and one of the first such projects in the country involving Indigenous ownership. April 10, 2026 As the industry navigates economic uncertainty, ambiguous policy frameworks and scrutiny around safety and scalability, one thing remains consistent: adaptability. By Aker Solutions March 30, 2026 Aker Solutions has been awarded a front-end engineering and design contract by KN Energies for a CO[2] transshipment terminal in Klaipėda, Lithuania, part of the EU-backed CCS Baltic Consortium. The terminal, designed to handle approximately 2.8 million tonnes of CO[2] per year from Lithuanian and Latvian industrial sources, is targeted for commercial operation in 2030, with a final investment decision planned for 2027. March 18, 2026 Svante Technologies and a sustainable packaging company have moved a BECCS project at a southeastern U.S. paper mill into feasibility study, targeting removal of more than 500,000 tonnes of biogenic CO[2] per year with permanent storage planned in the Gulf Coast region. March 18, 2026 Kent has been awarded a front-end engineering design contract by EnEarth for the Prinos CO[2] Storage Project in northern Greece, a first-of-its-kind permitted carbon storage facility in the Mediterranean designed to store up to 2.8 million tonnes of CO[2] annually by 2029. Aker Solutions bags FEED contract for Lithuanian CO2 terminal.

Aker Solutions bags FEED contract for Lithuanian CO2 terminal. March 19, 2026, by Nadja Skopljak Lithuanian liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal operator KN Energies has awarded Aker Solutions with a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for its CO2 transshipment terminal infrastructure project in Klaipėda. The planned terminal is expected to have a capacity of approximately 2.8 million tons of CO2 per year, received from industrial sources in Lithuania and Latvia and the wider Baltic region for temporary storage before being transported by ship to long-term geological storage sites located beneath the seabed in the North Sea. Aker Solutions will build upon findings from previous phase technical evaluations to further refine the technical design specification of the planned infrastructure and evaluate potential expansion routes for the development. The FEED phase is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2026 and will involve more than 100 Aker Solutions employees from across Norway, India and the UK. The final investment decision (FID) for the CO2 terminal is expected in 2027, with commercial operations in 2030. The project is part of the CCS Baltic Consortium, which aims to develop the first cross-border carbon capture, transport, and storage (CCS) network in the Baltic region. The Klaipėda terminal infrastructure development is recognized as a project of common interest (PCI) by the European Commission and is co-funded by the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for Energy program. "The successful procurement of a FEED contractor for Klaipėda liquid CO2 terminal marks an important milestone in CCS Baltic Consortium development and commitment of KN Energies to further increase maturity of this project of EU Common Interest," said Linas Kilda, Chief Business Development Officer at KN Energies. "I am confident that by combining KN Energies' proven global operational experience in marine cryogenic and liquid terminals management, with Aker Solutions' deep engineering expertise - built across decades of delivering complex CO2, energy, and cryogenic infrastructure projects worldwide - places KN Energies in a strong position to provide efficient and scalable solutions for the Baltic region."
