Alexander Dennis launches fixed-fee AD24 parts, service and maintenance contracts. 26 Oct 2026 Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., today announced that its AD24 aftermarket service is launching new parts, service and maintenance contracts at Euro Bus Expo 2026 to give UK operators improved long-term support for their vehicles, including next-generation electric buses. The new packages replace AD24's pence-per-mile contracts, with an improved offering that encompasses not just parts, but also HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) systems - and, in future, servicing and MOT as well. The contracts give operators more flexibility, with structured, scalable service packages to meet their fleet needs. The fixed monthly fee never changes through the whole duration of the contract, with contract lengths between five and 15 years available. The first new package to launch is the Essential parts contract, which covers replacement OEM components for all agreed Alexander Dennis diesel and electric buses. It sees next-day delivery for quality-assured parts, eliminating unpredictable component costs and ensuring minimal downtime. It can be combined with the HVAC bolt-on, a completely new product giving service and maintenance for the integrated battery, powertrain and interior thermal management systems of next-generation electric buses. It delivers fault diagnosis, repair support, discounted call-out rates and seasonal readiness checks. The bolt-on offers operators reassurance that this key technology of their electric buses is serviced and maintained as efficiently as possible by qualified technicians. It is launching initially with the Enviro100EV and Enviro200EV, with the Enviro400EV to follow. AD24 will roll out an Advanced inspection & service plan later, which will offer all the benefits of the Essential parts contract together with added vehicle health inspections, forward and preventative maintenance planning and reporting, and lifecycle tracking. An MOT bolt-on will also follow for pre-MOT health assessments, MOT scheduling and management, remedial works planning, and compliance reporting and support. The Advanced contract and MOT bolt-on will both be available on all diesel and electric Alexander Dennis vehicles. All of the new packages will offer one price for up to 15 years of the vehicle's life with no price hikes. Operators can take out a contract for five, seven, 10 or 15 years, with interest and likely cost increases amortised across the length of the contract. Customers will be able to access the contract's services at any time through the AD24 portal. They will also have a dedicated account manager for human support when needed. The contracts can be taken out on a single vehicle or across a mixed fleet of diesel and electric buses, all for a single price per month. In addition to brand-new vehicles, they can be applied to buses up to 10 years old, subject to inspection. The hallmark of the contracts will be their flexibility. For example, there will be an option for larger customers to have AD24 supply their workshop with impress stock, so they can pull a part off their own shelf whenever they need it. Operators could opt for a contract instead of paying a premium for an extended warranty, and it will be possible for customers buying a new fleet to cover their older vehicles with the same contract. James Belgum, Head of Commercial at AD24, said: "Alexander Dennis Limited is delighted to offer these new parts and HVAC contracts to its customers, with more fantastic services coming soon. "The new contracts are as simple as Alexander Dennis Limited can make them. Offering a subscription-based, fixed-fee model gives its customers a greater degree of flexibility, as well as the benefit that they know their costs for the next five, seven, 10 or 15 years. "It gives them reassurance, and the secure knowledge of their liabilities for a set period. And they know it's from a trusted source: a leading manufacturer, with OEM-standard parts at the level of service expected from AD24 and Alexander Dennis." Laura Tofts, AD24's Head of Product Support, added: "Alexander Dennis Limited is particularly pleased to offer the new HVAC contract, giving operators the option of professional, routine servicing for the critical heating and cooling systems in their electric buses. "The idea of the new packages is to give every customer structured service coverage that's built for their operation, across mixed fleets and across new vehicle technologies, with online ordering for extra simplicity. They can start where they need to and scale up their requirements as they grow. We're looking forward to our customers seeing the benefits."

According [...] 22 October 2026 By Editorial staff Alexander Dennis and Volvo Buses have announced a feasibility study for the development of an 18-metre tram-style electric articulated bus for the UK market, combining Volvo's BZL Electric chassis with a new Alexander Dennis body design named Enviro Max. The initiative, announced on 22 October 2026, targets high-capacity, zero-tailpipe-emission bus rapid transit (BRT) applications. According to Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group, the project will assess potential demand among UK local authorities and transport operators for an articulated electric vehicle designed to operate on existing road infrastructure, without requiring rails, track beds or overhead electrical lines. Volvo Buses has made its BZL Electric articulated chassis available to Alexander Dennis for the feasibility study. The proposed vehicle would combine Volvo's electric driveline and chassis technology with Alexander Dennis' body engineering and UK manufacturing capabilities. The two manufacturers have previously collaborated on the Enviro400XLB high-capacity double-decker, developed using the Volvo B8L chassis. The Volvo BZL Electric chassis platform was originally launched in September 2021, targeting markets including the UK, Australia and Mexico, with single- and double-deck configurations and compatibility with CCS and OppCharge charging systems. More recently, in June 2026, Volvo Buses introduced the 18-metre BZL Electric Articulated in Australia, featuring a locally manufactured Volgren body. Alexander Dennis Enviro Max: headed to BRT. The proposed Enviro Max will be based on the articulated version of the Volvo BZL Electric platform, which, as mentioned above, was introduced in Australia earlier in 2026. The chassis is an articulated development of Volvo's existing BZL Electric rigid platform. The configuration under evaluation supports a complete vehicle length of approximately 18 metres, with a permitted gross vehicle weight of 30,000 kg. Within this project,Alexander Dennis will develop a new body design for the vehicle, extending the construction principles already adopted across its Enviro family to an articulated rapid transit application. According to the manufacturer, the Enviro Max body will incorporate maintenance access arrangements and parts commonality with existing Enviro products. The vehicle's interior configuration remains under evaluation, with Alexander Dennis and Volvo Buses planning to engage with operators, local authorities and other stakeholders to determine passenger layouts, accessibility provisions and compatibility with existing infrastructure. The project also involves technical expertise from New Flyer, another NFI Group company, which has experience in the development and manufacturing of articulated buses. Neither manufacturer has announced a production schedule, vehicle price, passenger capacity or confirmed customer orders for the proposed Enviro Max. Volvo BZL Electric: up to 530 kWh and 450 kW pantograph charging. The Volvo BZL Electric articulated chassis is equipped with Volvo's EPT802 dual-motor electric driveline, delivering a maximum combined output of 400 kW and 850 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted through a two-speed automated manual transmission. The platform can accommodate up to 12 lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery packs, corresponding to a maximum installed energy capacity of 530 kWh. Two charging interfaces are available. The chassis supports CCS2 plug-in charging at up to 250 kW and OppCharge pantograph charging at up to 450 kW. These specifications refer to the Volvo articulated chassis made available for the study. Final battery configuration, vehicle weight, passenger accommodation and charging arrangements for a potential production version of the Enviro Max have not yet been announced. The manufacturers identify urban and interurban high-capacity services as potential applications for the proposed vehicle, including bus rapid transit corridors. The programme, announced by Alexander Dennis in mid-August, has received UK Government grant funding and will be led by the Greater Cambridge Partnership. It builds on the existing Connector project, which has already introduced three Alexander Dennis Enviro100AEV autonomous buses on a route serving the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The new phase will involve the technical upgrade of an existing Enviro100AEV and the introduction of a larger Enviro200AEV electric single-decker, both equipped for SAE Level 4 operation. The project will also investigate the deployment of autonomous buses on Cambridgeshire's planned busway network, including a trial on the southern section of the existing guided busway. According to Alexander Dennis, Commercialising Connector will examine the transition from autonomous bus trials to regular public transport operations, with activities covering passenger experience, ticketing, safety and accessibility. Alexander Dennis and Fusion Processing were also involved in Scotland's CAVForth autonomous bus project, which began carrying passengers in May 2023 with five Enviro200AV buses operated by Stagecoach on a 14-mile route between Fife and Edinburgh Park. The subsequent CAVForth2 programme included plans to extend the route towards Dunfermline and introduce an autonomous Enviro100AEV equipped with an upgraded Fusion Processing CAVStar system. However, the original CAVForth service was discontinued in February 2025, after Stagecoach reported passenger numbers below the levels required to continue operations beyond the project's scheduled end. Enviro100AEV and Enviro200AEV to receive Level 4 autonomous driving technology.
