Altasciences

Altasciences

Integrated CRO for early-phase drug development

Overview

Altasciences provides an integrated CRO that handles the full early‑phase drug development path, from preclinical testing through clinical proof of concept and into manufacturing. Its approach combines discovery support, safety testing, clinical trial execution, and in‑house manufacturing to run programs under one roof. This contrasts with competitors that require pharma and biotech clients to source services from multiple vendors, adding complexity and risk; Altasciences streamlines the process by coordinating all steps. The company aims to help innovator drug programs move quickly and efficiently, delivering integrated data to de‑risk decisions and speed progression to later stages.

Altasciences expands bioanalytical labs in North america.

Altasciences expands bioanalytical labs in North america. New and expanded facilities will support rising demand for late-stage clinical bioanalysis. August 11, 2026 Associate Editor Editor's Take: Global pharmaceutical companies continue to pour hundreds of billions of dollars into U.S. manufacturing, R&D and supply chain infrastructure to localize production and bolster domestic capacity. Altasciences is expanding its North American bioanalytical laboratory footprint with a 4,000-square-foot addition to the company's laboratory in Greater Montréal and a new 13,000-square-foot purpose-built laboratory in Harleysville, Pennsylvania. The lab in Canada is expected to be fully operational by the end of Q3 2026, while construction on the Pennsylvania site will proceed in phases, with Phase 1 scheduled for completion in Q1 2027. These investments significantly increase Altasciences' ability to support the growing demand for late-stage clinical bioanalysis while providing sponsors with greater flexibility, scalability, and operational resilience. Supporting demand for sophisticated bioanalytical support. Designed to support increasingly complex development programs, the expanded laboratories will result in increased capacity to conduct larger studies and higher sample volumes while incorporating "state-of-the-art" instrumentation and advanced laboratory automation for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic assay method development, validation, and sample analysis across the clinical phases of drug development. "Our clients are bringing increasingly complex molecules into development, and that is driving unprecedented demand for sophisticated bioanalytical support," said Lynne Le Sauteur, Vice President, Laboratory Sciences, Altasciences. "We're investing ahead of that demand by expanding capacity where sponsors need it most and deploying state-of-the-art instrumentation and automation that enhances speed without compromising quality." The expansion project strengthens Altasciences' broader North American bioanalytical network, which includes established laboratories in Greater Montréal (Quebec), Seattle (Washington), and Columbia (Missouri). Together, these locations provide sponsors with bioanalytical expertise and capacity across the drug development continuum. Meanwhile, network-wide harmonization enables sponsors to leverage capacity across locations, transition work seamlessly between laboratories, and maintain complete confidence in the integrity and consistency of their bioanalytical data. "This investment is about far more than expanding laboratory space," said Robert Sabelli, Co-Chief Operating Officer, Altasciences. "We're building one of the industry's most integrated and scalable bioanalytical networks. As clinical programs become larger, more complex, and increasingly global, sponsors need a partner that can rapidly scale capacity while delivering consistent scientific excellence across every location. That's exactly what we're delivering."

Altasciences and Evidence Matters extend AI automation from clinical to nonclinical drug development

Altasciences and Evidence Matters have completed a successful proof-of-concept for RegulatoryFlow, an AI platform extending automation from clinical to nonclinical drug development workflows. The collaboration, announced in August 2025, demonstrated accurate parsing of raw and SEND datasets, potentially expediting nonclinical reporting timelines. The current RegFlow version can generate approximately one-third of a typical nonclinical report with high fidelity. The platform has already achieved production of first-draft clinical study reports in clinical workflows. Marie-Hélène Raigneau, CEO of Altasciences, said the milestone helps sponsors move from initial safety assessments to clinical proof-of-concept faster whilst maintaining scientific integrity. Dr Ofer Avital, founder of Evidence Matters, noted the technology creates an AI bridge between nonclinical and clinical phases, freeing resources for higher-value scientific work.

Altasciences and Certara announce strategic partnership to accelerate early drug development.

Altasciences and Certara announce strategic partnership to accelerate early drug development. LAVAL, Québec, and Radnor, PA - May 7, 2026 - Altasciences, a fully integrated drug development solution company, and Certara (Nasdaq: CERT), a global leader in model-informed drug development (MIDD), today announced a strategic partnership to accelerate early-phase development programs. Fewer than half of preclinical drug candidates successfully reach in-human trials. Failures are driven by toxicity, poor pharmacokinetics, lack of efficacy, and challenges translating results from animals to humans. Many of these risks can be mitigated through a fully integrated model-informed drug development approach. Building on Altasciences' Acceleration Platform, the integration of Certara's strategic drug development services and biosimulation technology enables sponsors to establish proof of mechanism earlier, design more efficient studies, and make informed go/no-go decisions with greater confidence. By embedding modeling insights and digital workflows directly into development execution, study designs are optimized, dosing strategies are refined, and programs are more seamlessly integrated across nonclinical, clinical, bioanalytical, and manufacturing services. "At Altasciences, we already help sponsors move from first safety assessment to proof of concept with speed and precision," said Marie-Hélène Raigneau, CEO of Altasciences. "By embedding Certara's modeling capabilities into our platform, we can further inform critical decisions earlier and with greater confidence. This collaboration is about reducing uncertainty at the moments that matter most." The partnership comes at an opportune time as the FDA continues to advance new guidance supporting more adaptive, data-driven, and real-time drug development approaches, capabilities that integrated MIDD execution models are well positioned to deliver. "This partnership unlocks new opportunities to improve early development decisions for biotech sponsors and their investors," said Jon Resnick, CEO of Certara. "By embedding modeling and simulation directly into execution, we enable faster, more informed decision-making that ultimately benefits patients." Together, Altasciences and Certara are advancing a model-first, fully integrated, and resource-efficient approach to early drug development that accelerates the path to proof of concept for biotech innovators, investors and pharmaceutical companies across the globe.
