Amartha is a fintech platform in Indonesia that connects micro-entrepreneurs with investors through a peer-to-peer lending marketplace to fund productive loans for MSMEs, with a focus on women-led businesses. Borrowers access working capital without collateral, supported by a proprietary ML-based credit scoring system that uses alternative data and a field agent network to enable group lending. Lenders invest through the platform, monitor impact, and earn returns via transaction fees and a share of interest, with the model blending digital technology and in-person support. Its goal is to increase financial inclusion for the unbanked rural population, reduce reliance on predatory moneylenders, and foster sustainable rural growth through accessible funding and financial literacy.
