Antioch

Antioch

Software-focused robotics development and simulation platform

Overview

Antioch provides a software-centric platform for robotics teams to develop, test, and deploy autonomous systems entirely in software. The core product, Antioch Ark, packs a user’s complete hardware and software stack into a single, versioned digital artifact that can be run in simulated environments and real hardware with deterministic behavior, reducing the need for hardware-in-the-loop validation. The platform integrates with existing CI/CD and development workflows to support test-driven development for robotic autonomy. Unlike typical robotics tools, Antioch emphasizes sim-to-real readiness by default, containerization, and a native digital twin approach that bridges simulation and real-world performance. Its goal is to accelerate development cycles, improve reliability, and enable scalable, rigorously validated autonomous systems for robotics and autonomous vehicles.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • April 2026 seed funding added $8.5 million to scale engineering and infrastructure.
  • Early customers include multinationals in drones, construction, smart security, logistics, and automotive.
  • NVIDIA World Labs integration and CI/CD positioning accelerate adoption among autonomy teams.

What critics are saying

  • NVIDIA Isaac Sim 6.0 and PTC-Onshape workflows commoditize robotics simulation by 2026.
  • Antioch's $60 million valuation leaves little room if enterprise pilots stall before 2027.
  • If sim-to-real fidelity disappoints, customers revert to hardware-in-the-loop and Antioch becomes irrelevant.

What makes Antioch unique

  • Ark containerizes full robot stacks, targeting deterministic simulation and deployment workflows.
  • Antioch focuses on sensor and perception systems, where most commercial robotics budgets sit.
  • The company pitches itself as the Cursor for physical AI, not a generic simulator.

Simulation startup Antioch raises $8.5M to close the sim-to-real gap for physical AI

Antioch, a New York-based simulation startup, has raised $8.5 million in seed funding at a $60 million valuation, led by A* and Category Ventures. The company is building simulation tools to help robot developers bridge the sim-to-real gap by creating virtual environments where autonomous systems can be trained and tested. Founded in May 2023 by five co-founders including CEO Harry Mellsop, Antioch allows robot builders to create digital instances of their hardware connected to simulated sensors. The platform currently focuses on sensor and perception systems for automated vehicles, farm machinery and drones. The company works with multiple foundation models from Nvidia and World Labs, building domain-specific libraries to refine simulations. Early customers include large multinationals investing in robotics, with the goal of enabling developers to iterate on autonomous systems primarily in software within two to three years.
