SaaS loyalty marketing platform for retailers

Overview

AppCard provides a data-driven loyalty and marketing platform for retailers. It offers a SaaS product that uses AI and machine learning to analyze customers’ transaction data in real time, enabling stores to run personalized marketing campaigns, digital coupons, and loyalty programs. The system captures shopper data, processes it to deliver actionable insights for customer retention and targeted promotions, and allows customization at the store or franchise level through behavior triggers and do-it-yourself campaign builders. Revenue comes from subscription fees for retailers using the platform. Compared to competitors, AppCard emphasizes real-time analytics and AI-powered personalization with granular, franchise-wide customization, designed specifically for grocery and retail franchises. The company’s goal is to help retailers improve customer retention and sales by turning shopper data into targeted, easily deployable marketing programs.

AppCard launches AI-powered digital circular helping independent grocers compete with major chains

AppCard has launched its Digital Circular, a tool that helps independent grocers compete with larger chains through targeted advertising. The platform uses AI to convert static weekly ads into interactive circulars featuring recipes from a library of over 6,500 options. Shoppers can add ingredients directly to shopping lists. The system targets households using real point-of-sale data, spending patterns and postcode information. Adverts run across Google, YouTube, Gmail and other websites. Crops Fresh Marketplace in Pennsylvania saw daily page views increase 5.8 times after launching offsite adverts, whilst click-through rates reached 2% to 3%. The Digital Circular is now available to AppCard's 3,300 grocery partners. Purchase data integration allows grocers to measure which adverts drive sales, moving beyond traditional print budgets.

AppCard launches grocer-branded credit card programme with Neighborhood Fresh

AppCard has launched a grocer-branded credit card programme with Neighborhood Fresh, enabling the independent grocer to offer customers branded payment cards without building banking and compliance infrastructure. The programme includes an AppCard Credit Card and Smart Card, both branded for Neighborhood Fresh, allowing shoppers to earn rewards on purchases and redeem them at the store. The cards offer enhanced rewards on private-label items, fuel, and other purchases, with no annual fee. AppCard handles card marketing, customer service, compliance, and fraud services, making branded card programmes accessible to independent grocers who typically lack the scale and resources for such initiatives. The programme aims to strengthen shopper loyalty, increase rewards engagement, lower processing costs, and provide spending insights. Cards are issued by TAB Bank and branded for participating grocers.

AppCard acquires SHOPtoCOOK to expand digital commerce reach for independent grocers

AppCard, a marketing and analytics platform for independent grocers, has acquired SHOPtoCOOK, a Buffalo-based digital marketing firm specialising in grocery websites, in-store kiosks and social media support. The acquisition combines AppCard's data and coupon capabilities with SHOPtoCOOK's websites and recipes. Currently, approximately 18% of all digital coupons are clipped on SHOPtoCOOK websites and kiosks. The expanded platform now includes thousands of websites and kiosks generating millions of impressions during meal planning and recipe searches. For CPG brands, the deal offers wider distribution of personalised coupons, better visibility through recipes and kiosks, and clearer data linking advertisements to sales. Grocers benefit from a consistent experience across websites and rewards programmes, with digital coupons linked directly to recipes and shopping lists.
