Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • June 2026 Series A raised $60 million from SYN Ventures, Morgan Stanley, and Wipro.
  • LangChain integrated Arcade on April 7, 2026, expanding distribution into enterprise fleets.
  • Smithery's tens of thousands of entries give Arcade immediate discovery traffic and ecosystem control.

What critics are saying

  • OpenAI, Anthropic, and LangChain can standardize MCP, commoditizing Arcade's layer by 2027.
  • A single severe authorization bug would expose customer credentials and kill enterprise trust.
  • Smithery's registry value depends on Arcade sustaining developer mindshare and integration momentum.

What makes Arcade AI unique

  • Arcade owns both MCP execution and discovery after Smithery's August 5 acquisition.
  • Arcade's delegated authorization model logs every action and narrows token blast radius.
  • Arcade authored the MCP authorization specification and ships 7,500-plus production tools.

Arcade acquires Smithery to control MCP registry and runtime layer

Arcade.dev has acquired Smithery, a public registry and hosting platform for Model Context Protocol servers. The deal, announced on 5 August, brought Smithery co-founder Anirudh Kamath onto the Arcade team. Financial terms were not disclosed. Smithery's registry grew to tens of thousands of entries, allowing developers to discover and run MCP servers quickly. Arcade provides a secure action layer that handles authorisation and auditing for AI agents in production environments. Arcade raised a $60 million Series A in June, led by SYN Ventures with participation from Morgan Stanley and Wipro, bringing total funding to $72 million. The acquisition combines Smithery's registry with Arcade's governance layer, creating a unified platform for enterprises deploying AI agents. Arcade says its benchmark found only 0.5% of over 43,400 indexed MCP servers earned an A grade based on tool behaviour quality.

Akto partners with Langchain, Portkey, and LiteLLM to embed AI agent security across enterprise infrastructure

Akto, an AI agent security platform, has announced partnerships with Langchain, Portkey, TrueFoundry, Arcade, and LiteLLM to provide real-time defence against prompt injection, uncontrolled tool access and data leakage in AI agent deployments. The integrations embed Akto's runtime guardrails and observability directly into AI infrastructure platforms that enterprises already use, requiring no additional implementation work. This addresses a critical gap, as 79% of enterprises reportedly have limited visibility into AI agent runtime execution. The partnerships enable automated protection across the AI agent stack, from gateways and runtimes to frameworks and deployment platforms. Akto's technology inspects tool calls and responses in real-time, blocking injections, redacting sensitive data and enforcing policies before agents perform actions. The company raised $295 million across three funding rounds.
