Arduino Core on Zephyr 0.90.0 is officially stable and leaving beta. Arduino Team - July 29th, 2026 Arduino LLC is thrilled to announce the release of version 0.90.0 of the ArduinoCore-zephyr. This is a major milestone: Arduino LLC is officially exiting the beta phase and marking the core as stable. Achieving this goal is the culmination of months of testing, architectural refinement, and community feedback. As Arduino LLC establish this core as its primary framework for advanced hardware, Arduino LLC is also beginning the deprecation phase for the corresponding legacy cores based on mbedOS, which has just now reached End of Life status. Join Arduino LLC in this next chapter! Compile your existing sketches with version 0.90.0, and let Arduino LLC know how it performs. Expanded board and hardware support. Welcome, Nano RP2040 Connect! The Arduino(R) Nano(TM) RP2040 Connect board officially joins its lineup. You can now leverage the full RTOS power of Zephyr on RP2040 hardware with standard Arduino API compatibility. SD card support for the Arduino(R) Portenta(TM) H7 and C33 boards. Native SD card support is now enabled for both Portenta H7 and Portenta C33, making it simple to log data and host local files on external memory. PDM library support. Official support for the PDM library on the Nano 33 BLE board is here, unlocking digital microphone input for audio sampling, noise detection, and edge AI voice processing. Universal automatic loader sync. With version 0.90.0, automatic loader-and-sketch synchronization is now enabled across all supported boards. The core automatically verifies and handles loader updates behind the scenes during every sketch upload. DigiKey and Arduino launch Dream Lab Challenge with $20K in prizes for UNO Q projects

DigiKey and Arduino have launched the Dream Lab Challenge, offering $20,000 in prizes to creators who build projects using Arduino's UNO Q microcontroller board. The contest is open through 30 September 2026 to US-based makers, engineers, students and innovators aged 18 and older. Four winners will each receive a custom lab package valued at approximately $5,000, featuring professional-grade test equipment. Arduino launches open source Edge AI lab at IIT Delhi. July 16, 2026 Arduino has launched an open-source Edge AI Invention Lab at IIT Delhi, expanding its Physical AI for All initiative to strengthen hands-on AI education and develop India's next generation of AI talent. Arduino has expanded its open-source Edge AI and Physical AI ecosystem in India by launching the Arduino Edge AI Invention Lab at the Student Innovation Lab (SIL), Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi. The new facility extends the company's Physical AI for All initiative, aimed at making Edge AI and Physical AI education more accessible through hands-on innovation. The lab will support project-based learning in real-world AI applications through interdisciplinary research, hackathons, innovation challenges and industry collaborations. It combines Arduino's open-source hardware with educator enablement, student workshops, digital learning platforms, academic collaborations and industry-aligned curricula to bridge classroom learning with practical AI development. As part of the initiative, Arduino will establish 10 Edge AI Centres of Excellence across leading State Technical Universities and has developed a 120-hour credit-based Edge AI curriculum with laboratory manuals, teaching materials, project kits and faculty enablement resources in collaboration with STEMLORE Innovators. Within six months, the Physical AI for All initiative has reached more than 23,000 students, developers, educators and innovators through over 100 workshops and innovation programmes. It has also trained more than 1,000 educators and built academic partnerships with over 300 universities and higher education institutions. "Arduino has spent more than two decades making technology accessible through open-source innovation. With our Physical AI initiative, we are extending that mission by helping universities create hands-on learning environments where students can build the next generation of intelligent systems," said Guneet Bedi, Senior Director, Sales, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Prof. Amartansh Dubey of IIT Delhi added, "This collaboration has the potential to spark a new wave of next-generation innovation in Physical AI applications by enabling students to translate ideas into impactful real-world solutions."
