Arkana Laboratories provides specialized pathology services with a focus on esoteric pathology to support patient care. Their offerings center on high-quality clinicopathologic discussions and close collaboration with clinicians, treating the lab as an extension of a doctor’s practice to help deliver timely, accurate biopsy interpretations. Their approach emphasizes fast, clear communication of results and expert interpretation to guide patient treatment. Unlike typical labs, Arkana positions itself as a partner in care, prioritizing the clinician’s needs and the patient’s outcome over volume. The company’s goal is to shorten the time from biopsy to result and equip doctors with precise information to deliver the most effective care.

Arkana Laboratories has received a $266,613 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Institutes of Health to develop a diagnostic test for kidney transplant patients experiencing rejection. The one-year project, funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, aims to predict treatment resistance in T-cell mediated rejection cases at the time of diagnosis. Currently, physicians cannot reliably determine which patients will respond to standard treatment, which fails in approximately 30–50% of cases. The team previously identified a 27-gene pattern that can predict treatment response. This Phase I award will fund development of a rapid qPCR-based test to measure this signature using kidney biopsy tissue, with results available within a single day. Dr Chris Larsen will serve as principal investigator, with Owen Stephens as co-investigator. If successful, the team plans to pursue Phase II funding to validate the test for clinical use.
Early in 2025, Arkana, a new cybercriminal organization, emerged and boldly claimed to have stolen over two million customer records from a significant internet provider in the United States.
Little Rock, Arkansas — According to state and local economic development sources Arkana Laboratories plans to invest $30,000,000.00 to build out 10,000 square feet of new space in Little Rock. According to the company website Arkana Laboratories is a center for esoteric pathology focused on one thing: improving care for patients. Arkana is committed to providing doctors with the highest quality, clinicopathologic discussion possible.
