The service addresses a gap between outpatient care and emergency departments. After referral, patients connect with a licensed clinician within 30 minutes for assessment. They are then routed to suitable care options, including acute services, psychiatric consultation, outpatient treatment, or emergency care when necessary. According to Array's 2026 report, half of hospital leaders say over 20% of emergency department beds are occupied by behavioural health patients who could be treated elsewhere. Array Rapid Care aims to reduce unnecessary emergency department utilisation whilst ensuring patients receive appropriate care. The service extends Array's 25 years of experience in high-acuity behavioural health care into primary and urgent care settings.
