Astronomer has appointed Matt Simontacchi as President of Field Operations. Simontacchi joins from Red Hat, where he spent nearly 19 years in expanding leadership roles, most recently as Senior Vice President and General Manager of North America, overseeing nearly $3 billion in annual revenue. At Astronomer, Simontacchi will report to CEO Pete DeJoy and lead go-to-market strategy for Astro, the company's unified orchestration platform powered by Apache Airflow. His appointment comes as artificial intelligence reshapes enterprise data infrastructure. During his tenure at Red Hat, Simontacchi helped scale the company from an emerging open-source business to an industry leader with nearly $7 billion in annual revenue. He played a key role in driving enterprise adoption of technologies including Linux and Kubernetes.

Astronomer, the company behind data orchestration platform Astro powered by Apache Airflow, has reported 122% year-over-year ARR growth in its EMEA business. The company's customer count in the region grew 80%, with EMEA now accounting for nearly 20% of total business since operations began in 2024. The growth is driven by demand for data and AI orchestration that meets Europe's strict data governance and compliance requirements. Astronomer offers deployment options including Astro Private Cloud and Remote Execution, which allow organisations to maintain data sovereignty whilst managing orchestration workflows. According to Gartner, the DataOps tools category is growing at over 21% annually. Astronomer holds 17% market share, the largest amongst vendors including AWS, Google and Microsoft, and grew cloud revenue 88% year-over-year.
