BNY CEO Robin Vince rates himself 9/10 on AI usage, uses in-house platform for daily coaching

Robin Vince, CEO of America's oldest bank BNY and new OpenAI board member, rates himself a nine out of 10 for AI usage. He says he won't give himself full marks because AI is moving so quickly that using it to its fullest extent feels unattainable. BNY had over 100 "digital employees" in early 2025 before widespread agent adoption. The bank's in-house AI platform, Eliza, connects to employee feedback processes and provides daily coaching. It understands Vince's calendar, emails, and documents, offering advice on how to approach his day. Vince highlights AI's ability to see patterns across the entire 46,000-employee organisation and make recommendations that no single person could. He declined to comment on OpenAI's potential IPO, having joined the board only two weeks prior.

BNY Mellon invests $18M in quantum computing firm Rigetti

BNY Mellon has invested $18.22 million in Rigetti Computing, a quantum computing company listed on NASDAQ. The investment reflects growing institutional confidence in quantum technology's potential across industries including financial modelling, drug discovery, logistics, and artificial intelligence. Rigetti Computing develops quantum computers and superconducting quantum processors through a full-stack approach that integrates processors, software tools, and cloud-based platforms. The company aims to deliver practical quantum advantage for problems beyond the capabilities of classical supercomputers. The substantial investment provides Rigetti with capital for research, development, and commercialisation efforts. For BNY Mellon, one of the world's largest custodian banks, the stake represents a strategic allocation towards high-growth innovative sectors. The backing also enhances Rigetti's market visibility and could attract additional institutional investment in the quantum computing sector.
