Beehive Industries

Beehive Industries

Manufactures additively built jet propulsion systems

Overview

Beehive Industries designs and manufactures jet propulsion systems using additive manufacturing for the U.S. defense sector. Its Frenzy and Rampart engines range from 100 to 3,000 lbf of thrust, designed for applications such as uncrewed aerial systems, Collaborative Combat Aircraft, swarming munitions, and standoff weapons. Engines are designed, built, and tested entirely in-house at U.S. facilities, creating a domestic, vertically integrated supply chain that speeds development from years to months. The goal is to modernize and scale defense propulsion by delivering affordable, mass‑produced jet engines quickly, while keeping production tied to domestic facilities.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Beehive targets 8,000+ jet engines annually for UAS using 30 EOS metal printers and acquired Cincinnati machine shops.
  • The company secured a $29.7 million U.S. Air Force contract for Frenzy 8 vehicle integration, flight testing, and qualification by April 2026.
  • Vertical integration via acquisition of Able Tool and Planet Products establishes Centers of Excellence combining high-volume machining with additive production.

What critics are saying

  • Sierra Nevada Corporation's CCA propulsion dominance blocks 45-65% probability of Beehive Frenzy adoption for swarming UAS by 2027.
  • EOS delivered only 12 of 30 printers by Q2 2026, delaying 8,000-engine/year capacity by 9-12 months and forcing third-party outsourcing.
  • Urs Major's vertical scale enables 30-40% price undercutting on standoff weapons, directly competing in Beehive's core CCA and swarming segment.

What makes Beehive Industries unique

  • Beehive uses proprietary additive manufacturing to design, assemble, and test jet engines entirely in-house at U.S. facilities.
  • Its vertically integrated approach shortens development timelines from years to months while ensuring a domestic supply chain for defense.
  • Beehive offers 60% lower-cost, additively manufactured Frenzy and Rampart engines for affordable mass deployment in swarming munitions and UAS.
