What's right with its schools: BlueHorizon at ChattState. June 8, 2026 | In the News CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and Chattanooga State Community College have launched a new program to help with workforce development in the region. The BlueHorizon program is an education-to-career partnership between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee and ChattState. "I never thought I would have a career fresh out of high school," said Janiyah Walker, a senior at Red Bank High School. "To put it in perspective, between graduation and starting BlueHorizon is only three weeks. I only have three weeks to have a summer, and I'm not upset about that because this is a career. I will be making a salary. I will have health insurance. I will have a 401(k). I never thought I would have this at 18." BlueHorizon is currently accepting applicants for its January 2027 cohort, with information sessions beginning June 18. Learn more or attend an information session.

City of Chattanooga and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation announce BlueCross Healthy Place at Pavilion Park. May 19, 2026 Investment contributes additional amenities to Finley Stadium revitalization. CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Representatives from the City of Chattanooga, Finley Stadium Corporation, Hamilton County and the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation recently gathered to announce the development of the BlueCross Healthy Place at Pavilion Park. Part of the ongoing revitalization of Finley Stadium, the BlueCross Healthy Place will add new amenities to the First Horizon Pavilion area surrounding the newly redesigned skate park. These will include: * Play area * Connective promenade * Boulder climbers * Airnasium (open-air roof structure over the skating rink) * Dog park * Shaded seating "The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation is proud to help shape the Southside's next chapter," said Dalya Qualls White, executive director of the BlueCross Foundation. "The BlueCross Healthy Place at Pavilion Park will connect the stadium to new gathering and activity spaces around the pavilion, enhancing the experience for everyone who visits these spaces." Volkswagen Chattanooga to furlough 160 workers as ID.4 production pauses

Chattanooga-based BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, the state's largest health insurer, said it would lay off around 150 employees between September and early 2026 as it cut its Shared Health subsidiary.
