Butler Hospitality built and operated cloud-kitchen delivery for hotels by taking over underused hotel kitchens and turning them into centralized production hubs that prepared and dispatched meals to a network of partner hotels. For hotels with existing restaurants it managed food and beverage operations; for limited-service hotels it offered a virtual room service option for full-service meals, with meals delivered by Butler staff and billed directly to rooms. The model aimed to achieve economies of scale by pooling demand across properties, delivering higher quality meals at lower costs, and integrating with hotel systems for seamless, fee-free direct-to-room billing. It grew to serve hundreds of hotels in cities like New York, Chicago, Miami, and San Francisco, including brands such as Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt, before ceasing operations in May 2022 due to a mix of market pressures and internal challenges.

Butler Hospitality, which was created in 2016, raised $50 million in funding, and provided room services to numerous hotels from central kitchens, shuttered in July 2022.
On May 16, Butler Hospitality, an on-demand platform for room service and amenities, sent an email to vendors that might have been considered reassuring under other circumstances. “We are writing to inform you [that] room service and catering services will continue as is. All collateral is still functional,” the email read. “We appreciate your loyalty to sticking with us through these times.”. The trouble was, Butler’s roughly-1,000-person workforce had been laid off just days earlier. In fact, most were told that the company had been dissolved — according to interviews TechCrunch had with a number of former employees, and corroborated in a report last week by industry blog Restaurant Dive
Butler Hospitality has teamed up with Miami-based Boucher Brothers to deliver food and drink offerings right to your beach chair.
In 2021, Butler Hospitality raised US$ 35 million from Shamrock Holdings, Inc., Mousse Partners, Platform Ventures, and Maywic Select Investments.
The Series B round brings the total funding of Butler Hospitality – one of PhocusWire’s Hot 25 Startups for 2019 – to $55 million.
