CAWST is a Canadian charity and licensed engineering firm that works to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene around the world. It builds local knowledge and skills so people can implement household water and sanitation solutions themselves, rather than relying on external experts. Its approach centers on training, resources, and support that empower communities to apply practical, affordable options at home. The organization differentiates itself by combining charitable work with engineering expertise to enable locally owned, self-implemented solutions. Its goal is to expand access to safe water and better hygiene by increasing the capacity of communities to address their own needs.
