CCala Health develops the Cala kIQ System, a physician-prescribed wearable that treats hand tremors from essential tremor and Parkinson’s disease using TAPS therapy. TAPS is a non-invasive electrical stimulation of skin nerves delivered via the wearable during roughly 40-minute sessions to reduce tremors. The device collects patient data to help patients and doctors monitor progress and tailor care, blending non-drug therapy with existing medications. It differentiates itself by FDA-approved, physician-prescribed, non-invasive, data-driven therapy that complements medical treatment, with the goal of improving daily tremor management and supporting measurable clinical outcomes.

Cala launches nationwide kIQ Plus wearable for hand tremor. San Mateo-based Cala has launched nationwide availability of the Cala kIQ Plus System, its next generation wearable neuromodulation device for action hand tremor in essential tremor and Parkinson's disease. The company claims the device was cleared by the FDA earlier this year and is the first and only wearable to offer multiple stimulation waveform modes along with adaptive calibration to personalize therapy. A study of the three waveform modes presented at the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting earlier this year found that patients using their preferred waveform achieved significantly greater improvement on the Bain and Findley Activities of Daily Living scale, and that 76% to 89% of participants had at least a 1 point reduction on the clinician rated TETRAS performance score. The device is available nationwide with a prescription, and the company says it is available at no cost to eligible Veterans Affairs beneficiaries and has Medicare coverage for those who meet local coverage criteria. Cala is showcasing the Cala kIQ Plus at the AAN Fall Conference in Las Vegas October 9 to 11 and continues to pursue broader coverage in Medicare Advantage and commercial plans.
Cala Health recognized among TIME's top healthtech companies of 2026. Cala Health has been named to TIME and Statista's World's Top HealthTech Companies 2026 list in the Medical Devices and Wearables category. The designation follows TIME and Statista research that recognizes 500 healthtech companies across six market segments and evaluates financial performance, reputation and online engagement. According to the company, its Cala TAPS therapy, delivered from a wrist-worn wearable, is the most researched wearable treatment for essential tremor. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared the Cala kIQ Plus system earlier this year for action hand tremor in essential tremor and Parkinson's disease, and the company claims kIQ Plus introduces new therapy modes and adaptive calibration to personalize treatment. The Cala system is available through the Veterans Affairs health system at no cost to eligible beneficiaries and has Medicare coverage for those who meet local coverage criteria, and the company continues to seek expanded reimbursement.

The Cala kIQ system delivers TAPS Therapy through a noninvasive wrist-worn wearable neuromodulation device, which is physician-prescribed and aids in the temporary relief of hand tremors in adults with ET. The disease affects over 7 million Americans, causing uncontrollable hand and arm shaking that disrupts daily activities, and pre-existing treatment options are often insufficient or require invasive surgical options.
