Canvas provides a 3D scanning and CAD conversion service for interior spaces. Using a mobile app that taps into LiDAR scanners on recent iPhones and iPads, users capture a space in minutes to create a detailed 3D model. Canvas then performs a scan-to-CAD conversion, delivering editable, layered as-built CAD files in formats compatible with SketchUp, Revit, and AutoCAD. The service-based model charges per square foot for CAD conversion, targeting professionals in real estate, architecture, and interior design who want to reduce time and costs associated with manual measurements and drafting. Canvas traces its roots to Occipital, and differentiates itself by offering a professional, per-square-foot CAD conversion service built on consumer-grade LiDAR data and specialized processing. The company’s goal is to streamline the creation of accurate, editable models for project planning, design, and documentation, enabling faster project workflows and cost savings.

Canvas, a company specialising in spatial measurement and modelling, has rebranded as Twindo and launched an expanded spatial intelligence platform. The company has raised funding, though the amount was not disclosed. The platform enables professionals to convert physical spaces into digital twins through mobile scans or plan uploads, creating design-ready data for architecture, construction and facilities management. Key features include web-based collaboration tools, an "Invite to Capture" function allowing remote scanning by contractors or homeowners, and centralised project documentation. CEO Sarah Bird said the rebrand reflects the platform's evolution beyond capture capabilities. The technology is backed by over 20 patents and combines AI-driven processing with human expertise to ensure accuracy. Twindo currently serves designers, architects and design-build firms, with growing adoption in retail, hospitality and facilities management sectors.
Canvas, a 3D-modeling startup led by former Moz CEO Sarah Bird, secured $10M in Series A funding. The round was co-led by Trilogy Equity Partners and Foundry Group, with participation from Acquired Wisdom Fund, GC&H Investments, and Frontier VC. Canvas, originally founded as Occipital in 2008, pivoted in 2022 to focus solely on software for 3D measurements and modeling. The company operates remotely with a global team of 50 employees.

Sarah Bird, the Seattle tech veteran who led SEO software startup Moz for seven years, is the new CEO of Canvas, a software company that builds technology for remodeling, architecture and interior design.A former lawyer who started at Moz as chief operating officer in 2007, Bird left the company in November 2021 after it was acquired by J2 Global. She spent almost two years on a sabbatical that she said was filled with travel, startup investing, volunteering, remodeling her home and more. She also got engaged, she wrote on LinkedIn on Wednesday.Feeling “powered up,” Bird called the Canvas job her “next dream role.”Canvas uses LiDAR-enabled iPhone or iPad scans to capture precise 3D representations of homes and create interactive models with accurate measurements. The process turns the scans into detailed, editable, as-built files in industry-standard formats. The company traces its roots to 2008, when Jeffrey Powers and Vikas Reddy co-founded the firm, previously known as Occipital Inc.“What truly excites me about Canvas is not just the groundbreaking technology but also the customers we serve,” Bird said on LinkedIn
