Thunder Mountain Church
Jun 22nd, 2026
It's official.

It's official. June 22nd, 2026 by Randy Youngblood On May 3, Thundermountain celebrated the completion of its three-year capital initiative, For the One, when Thundermountain had reached 98% of its goal. One week later, on May 10, Thundermountain crossed the finish line, surpassing the $2 million mark. The final total came to $2,025,048. What an incredible testimony to God's faithfulness and the generosity of His people! CareNet's Mobile Unit Fully Funded One of the distinctive features of its capital initiatives is that they always include an outreach component. This time, Thundermountain partnered with CareNet to help fund a mobile unit that will take life-affirming services throughout Cochise County, including to women who have been crossing the border into Mexico to access abortions. The amount needed to begin production of the vehicle was $343,000. After all For the One contributions had been applied, CareNet was still short $33,304.42. Because this project was so important to many in its church family, Thundermountain were able to provide the remaining funds from its General Fund and celebrate the completion of their fundraising goal as well. Thundermountain is grateful that God has entrusted these resources to Thundermountain. In total, Thunder Mountain Church provided approximately 71% of the funding needed for the mobile unit. Generosity Remains a Priority One thing that continues to encourage me is that its church practices the same generosity that Thundermountain teach. Even while preparing for a major building project, Thundermountain has remained committed to ministry. During the past year alone, General Fund dollars have been used to purchase the Outreach Center, acquire an additional 14 acres, and help fund CareNet's mobile unit. In addition, special offerings and designated gifts are helping make the Outreach Center operational. Its goal has never been simply to build buildings. Its goal is to advance the mission God has given Thundermountain. Thundermountain Reached Both Goals At the beginning of For the One, Thundermountain were presented with two objectives: 1.) Raise $2 million in cash. 2.) Increase General Fund giving to $1.25 million annually in order to qualify for a $5 million loan. By God's grace, Thundermountain accomplished both. Praise God for what He has done through the people of Thunder Mountain Church! Looking Ahead For several years, it has felt as though every time Thundermountain approached the finish line, the target moved. Construction costs increased. Attendance growth accelerated. New ministry opportunities emerged. As a result, Thundermountain found ourselves needing to begin with what was originally considered Phase 2 of construction. But God's timing is perfect. The scope of the project has certainly changed, but its commitment remains the same. Thundermountain is determined to build what Thundermountain need - not merely what Thundermountain can afford - trusting that the God who is bringing the people will also provide the resources. That conviction has guided Thundermountain throughout this process, and it continues to guide Thundermountain today. Design Phase 2 Is Underway Churches By Daniels has been working with Thundermountain to finalize the design details. The new worship center is planned to seat approximately 1,000 people. Building it at this size now will actually cost less than constructing a smaller facility and expanding later. The plans also include an office wing to meet near-future staff needs and expanded connection space, including a café area designed to encourage relationships and make its campus a place where people gather throughout the week. What's Ahead? The current project estimate is approximately $11.18 million (+/- 10%). The design and engineering work currently underway is part of that overall cost. Its present timeline suggests that Thundermountain could possibly break ground in 2027. That's next year! At the same time, Thundermountain recognize there is still much that only God can do to make this dream a reality. Thundermountain will continue to move forward prayerfully, faithfully, and expectantly. As Thundermountain move through the design process, Thundermountain will also be working with potential lenders to determine exactly what will be required to begin construction. Once those conversations are complete, Thundermountain expect to launch a new capital initiative this fall focused on helping Thundermountain take the next step toward breaking ground in 2027. Rather than guessing at a number, Thundermountain want to establish a goal based on solid information, realistic construction costs, and a clear financing plan. In the months ahead, Thundermountain'll share more details as they become available. For the One was never the finish line - it was an important step toward the larger vision God has placed before Thundermountain. Thundermountain celebrate what God has done, even as Thundermountain look ahead to what He has yet to do. Kim and I have enthusiastically participated in each of the four capital initiatives during its time here, and Thundermountain has never wanted to return to its previous level of giving after seeing what the Lord is capable of doing through Thundermountain. Even though For the One is complete, Thundermountain will continue to give to both the Building Fund and the General Fund. Thundermountain do this because Thundermountain believe deeply in what God is doing through this church. Over the years, Thundermountain has watched countless lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ and seen legacies of faith begin in families from its community whose influence now extends across the country. The buildings matter because people matter, and every step forward creates more opportunities for people to encounter Jesus. That is a return on investment that cannot be measured in dollars. Thank you for your generosity, your faith, and your partnership in the mission God has entrusted to Thundermountain. No comments. Add Your Comment

Nurse Line drives $12M savings and 3:1 ROI.

Nurse Line drives $12M savings and 3:1 ROI. Share: Essential Insights * 24/7 access improves decisions: Members receive real-time clinical guidance, helping them choose the right level of care and avoid unnecessary ER visits. * Upfront triage reduces waste: RNs triaged 700+ conditions, escalating only appropriate cases to physicians. * Better decisions drive savings: The program delivered $176 per interaction savings, $12M in annual cost reduction, and a 3:1 ROI. The Big Picture Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) needed to improve how members accessed care while reducing unnecessary ER visits and overall medical spend. To address both access and cost, HCSC partnered with Carenet Health to implement a 24/7 Nurse Line, giving members direct access to registered nurses for symptom assessment, guidance, and direction to the most appropriate level of care. The program delivered measurable impact, averaging $176 in savings per interaction, generating $12 million in annual savings, and achieving a 3:1 ROI. Unnecessary emergency room visits were driving up costs for HCSC, putting pressure on both medical spend and overall performance. Members weren't sure where to go for care or how urgent their situation was. Without clear guidance, they often defaulted to higher-cost options, even when their needs could have been addressed more appropriately elsewhere. At the same time, HCSC needed to maintain high-quality member experience. Reducing utilization alone wasn't enough. Members still expected easy, reliable access to care and reassurance that they were making the right decision. This created a difficult balance: how to give members immediate access to clinical support while also guiding them to the most appropriate, cost-effective level of care. HCSC leaders needed a solution that could improve how members navigate care in real time while reducing avoidable utilization. Key Challenges Sidebar * Challenge 1: Rising unnecessary ER utilization * Challenge 2: Increasing avoidable medical spend * Challenge 3: Maintaining high member satisfaction * Challenge 4: Need for 24/7 access to care Click or tap here to enter text. HCSC partnered with Carenet Health to implement a 24/7 Nurse Line, giving members immediate access to registered nurses who could assess symptoms and guide them to the right next step. When members reached out, nurses served as the first point of contact, asking the right questions and using evidence-based protocols to evaluate more than 700 adult and pediatric conditions. Each interaction focused on helping members understand what was happening and what they should do next. Only when clinically appropriate were members escalated to an on-demand physician. In many cases, nurses were able to provide care guidance, at-home treatment recommendations, or direction to a lower-cost care setting, preventing unnecessary escalation. The experience was designed to be simple and consistent. Members had a single point of access for both nursing advice and virtual physician care, with clear guidance delivered in real time. Behind the scenes, Carenet integrated with HCSC's systems, implemented customized training aligned to the plan's needs, and maintained continuous quality monitoring to ensure a high standard of care. The result was a model that helped members make better decisions in the moment, improving care direction while reducing avoidable utilization. HCSC delivered meaningful improvements across cost, experience, and care outcomes: * 96% member satisfaction, reflecting an improved care experience * 58% of members who planned to visit the ED were redirected to a lower level of care * 69% of all symptomatic callers were guided to a more appropriate care setting The financial impact was significant: * $176 in care-avoidance savings per triage interaction * $12 million in annual cost savings * 3:1 return on investment Beyond the numbers, the program changed how members engaged with care: * Members received immediate, trusted guidance instead of guessing where to go * Clinical decisions were made earlier, preventing unnecessary escalation * The plan gained more control over how care was accessed and delivered What members experienced. "The nurse was excellent - very helpful and kind. They explained everything clearly, and I highly recommend this service." - Member Feedback * "Tht better prepared to handle their healthcare situation * 94% would recommend the service to a friend * A 92 Net Promoter Score (NPS) across more than 4,300 surveys * These results highlight a consistent ability to deliver not just cost savings, but a high-quality, trusted member experience at scale. The nurse I spoke to was helpful. Made me feel better prepared to treat my injury." - Member Feedback Consistent experience at scale. While these results were achieved with a single health plan, they reflect the broader experience members have across Carenet's Nurse Advice Line programs. Across Carenet's NL: * 97% satisfaction with nurse interactions * 92% of members fel
