Osborne Clarke advises cargo.one on acquisition of Cargofive. Published on 5th March 2026 Osborne Clarke has provided legal advice to the logistics technology company cargo.one on the acquisition of the ocean rate platform Cargofive. With the acquisition of Cargofive and the parallel capital increase, cargo.one is further strengthening its position as a leading AI infrastructure partner for multimodal logistics. cargo.one is a technology provider specialising in artificial intelligence for the logistics sector. With the acquisition of Portugal-based Cargofive, the company has expanded its existing air rate infrastructure to include comprehensive ocean rate data, thereby creating the basis for a fully multimodal rate database. Cargofive has integrations with the top 10 ocean carriers as well as scalable processes for capturing and processing sea freight rates across more than four million trade lanes, which are used by freight forwarders worldwide. Based on this integrated air and ocean rate infrastructure, cargo.one has simultaneously launched a natively AI-based operating system for multimodal logistics. The platform consolidates structured operational data and AI-supported, agent-based workflows in a single system in which teams and AI agents work on the same data foundation. This allows freight forwarders and carriers to automate end-to-end processes - for example in rate management, quotation, booking and customer support - within a central system, without having to rely on fragmented stand-alone solutions and separate data sources. cargo.one is leveraging its position as a central infrastructure layer for AI transformation in global logistics and addressing one of the industry's key challenges: the productive use of AI based on consistent, structured data in large-scale corporate environments. "The acquisition of Cargofive is an important milestone in cargo.one's development towards a natively AI-based operating system for multimodal logistics," says Robin Eyben, Partner at Osborne Clarke. "The transaction highlights how leading logistics and technology companies are aligning themselves to embed AI not as an isolated tool, but as an integral part of their core infrastructure." Comprehensive advice on corporate and contractual aspects of the acquisition Osborne Clarke provided cargo.one with comprehensive advice on the corporate and contractual aspects of the acquisition of Cargofive. The advice included, among other things, structuring the transaction, negotiating the purchase and investment documentation, and coordinating cross-border aspects in the technology and logistics context. The Osborne Clarke team consisted of Alexandra Nautsch (lead), Robin Eyben (Partner responsible) and Dana Alpar (all Corporate / M&A / Venture Capital). Cargo.one has acquired 100% of Cargofive, creating an integrated air and ocean freight platform. The deal, financed from cargo.one's own funds, was driven by customer demand for a unified booking system across both modes of transport. The acquisition combines cargo.one's air freight capabilities with Cargofive's established maritime platform, allowing freight forwarders to access air and sea quotations without switching between multiple portals. Cargofive's approximately 50 employees across 30 countries will join cargo.one. Cargo.one recently raised $20 million from Bessemer Venture Partners to develop AI-powered logistics infrastructure. The company has achieved triple-digit annual growth and works with nine of the world's 20 largest freight forwarders. The combined platform aims to eliminate data silos whilst maintaining human oversight of all processes.
Air France group adds cargo.one access. Air France KLM Martinair Cargo now makes digital air cargo bookings available through cargo.one. The additional, high-quality digital booking option for Air France KLM Martinair Cargo will benefit many freight forwarders and offer ideal support for the carrier's extensive network connectivity. The airline will use this augmented distribution setup to reach more customers across most of its markets. Through its partnership with cargo.one, AFKLMP Cargo intends to continue expanding its digital presence and offer customers an additional booking option alongside its own myCargo online booking portal. Implementation will proceed market-by-market, based on customer demand. The expanded offering will make the airline available digitally to more freight forwarders world wide and will scale the advantages of partnering with a user-focused marketplace to benefit more of the airline's local teams.
Cargo. One unveils ai-powered tools to supercharge freight forwarder productivity. Cargo.one has unveiled five new enterprise features - including smart quoting, dynamic pricing rules, and real-time analytics. * Enhanced AI quoting delivers high-quality, ready-to-share quotes, allowing teams to handle significantly more volume * New Rate Engine centralizes management of buy rates, internal product rates, and sell rates to power forwarding operations * All five new productivity features are powered by cargo.one's industry-leading data quality cargo.one, the leading technology platform for freight forwarders to buy and sell logistics services, today unveiled its latest product release introducing five new capabilities to increase freight forwarders' productivity, in time for this year's peak season. The release includes enhanced AI-powered quoting, multi-lane tender rate procurement, a single source of truth for all rates, customer-specific pricing rules, and real-time quoting analytics - all built on cargo.one's enterprise-grade scalable technology platform. Peak Season creates a universal challenge for freight forwarders: volumes spike, customers require faster responses, and operational inefficiencies become more costly. Traditional workflows, often paper-based, force teams to choose which opportunities to pursue, turn away business they do not have capacity for, and make maintaining profitability at scale difficult. cargo.one's October release tackles these challenges with tools built for high-volume, high-pressure operations. Building upon its July Release, cargo.one's AI-powered Quoting now generates complete, ready-to-share customer quotes that consistently match the rate selections that human experts prefer themselves. Forwarders can send quotes as-is or review and edit before sending, allowing them to handle significantly more volume without additional headcount. For high-value tenders and RFP, cargo.one's new Tender Feeder provides rate data downloads for multi-lane tenders in one simple export, turning what traditionally required multiple days and cross-functional coordination into minutes of work. cargo.one has also introduced three new enterprise-grade operational control capabilities that ensure forwarders maintain pricing consistency and visibility even as volumes spike. Rate Engine centralizes management of buy rates, internal product rates, and sell rates from a single interface, serving as the foundation for both sales teams and online portals. Sales Profiles provide automatic sell rate generation per customer or group, ensuring consistent pricing strategies across teams. cargo.one's new Quoting Insights deliver real-time analytics on conversion rates, response times, and performance by customer or route - facilitating real-time optimizations rather than traditional post-season analysis. Robert Frei, Global SVP of Freight Forwarding Operations at DP World, explains, "We're developing in-house tools that deliver more options and faster service to our customers. As part of this, we're partnering with cargo.one to aggregate airline rates directly into our systems. This collaboration enhances our digital connectivity and ensures that our quoting tool has access to consistent, high-quality rate information, an essential step in strengthening the customer experience we're building." Christopher Ziller, Operations Manager, Airfreight at QCS-Quick Cargo Service, comments, "cargo.one's AI quotes are spot-on - we rarely need to make changes, saving significant time while maintaining control over customer communication. This frees our team for tasks with higher financial value, such as complex shipments that need deeper attention and, more importantly, business development." Moritz Claussen, Founder and Co-CEO of cargo.one, comments, "We continue to invest heavily in AI automation, but also on the foundation that enables AI to deliver value. The October Release reflects our philosophy: advanced tools are only as good as the data behind them. By building upon our industry-leading rate database, we deliver capabilities no one else can match." Enhanced AI quoting, Tender Feeder, Rate Engine, Sales Profiles, and Quoting Insights are available starting today - enabling forwarders to scale volume, reduce manual workflows, and maintain complete operational visibility and control.
