Carousell hits EBITDA profit as secondhand sales jump 40% to $141M revenue

Singapore-based classifieds platform Carousell Group achieved positive full-year EBITDA in 2025, driven by strong recommerce performance. Revenue grew 18% year-on-year to $141 million, whilst losses before tax narrowed by 75% from $32.3 million in 2024. The recommerce business, covering consignments, authenticated goods, and secondhand sales, now represents 45% of total revenue, growing over 40% annually. Gross merchandise value increased more than 20% across luxury, mobile phones, and fashion categories. Carousell expanded to 29 physical stores across Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia by end-2025. Operating through subsidiaries Refash and LuxLexicon, these locations serve as trade-in and assessment centres. Chief strategy officer Shing Tai Leung says the company will focus on AI and recommerce as growth pillars going forward.

Carousell opens first mobile retail store in Singapore with instant cash buybacks and repairs

Carousell has opened its first dedicated retail store for secondhand mobile phones and electronics at Chinatown Point in Singapore. The store houses the country's widest selection of pre-owned mobile devices in a single retail location, extending the company's "phygital" strategy beyond luxury goods. The outlet offers a comprehensive suite of services including instant cash payouts via PayNow, on-site repairs, and warranty-backed devices that undergo a 40-point inspection. Customers can secure devices online at sg.carousellmobile.com with seven-day returns available. The store leverages Carousell Group's marketplace data to optimise inventory and uses Laku6's AI-powered diagnostic technology for device valuations completed in under two minutes. All devices come with a one-month warranty, extendable to 12 months, addressing trust concerns in the secondhand electronics market.
