Cascale catalyzes collective action toward equitable and restorative business practices in the consumer goods industry. It is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit with a global membership of retailers, brands, manufacturers, governments, academics, industry associations, and NGO affiliates. Cascale owns and develops the Higg Index, a measurement methodology and suite of tools that assess environmental and social impact across the value chain. Members use the Higg Index to measure, benchmark, and improve performance in areas such as sustainability and labor practices. Unlike many industry groups that operate as for-profits or individual brands, Cascale combines a nonprofit coalition model with shared data standards, enabling wide participation and common metrics. Its goal is to ensure business activity gives back more to the planet and its people than it takes, driving toward equitable and restorative practices throughout the consumer goods sector.

Podcast: outgoing chief lifts lid on Cascale's vision. Cascale's outgoing CEO reflects on the organisations work amid the textile sector's current geo-political disruption and decarbonisation challenges Reflecting on her tenure at Cascale, Harsh Saini, the outgoing interim CEO of Cascale, talks about how she has helped to stabilise the organisation through some recent turbulence, and gives a candid assessment of the textile industry's current difficulties in a world of tariffs and geo-political volatility, as she prepares to hand over the leadership to Ying McGuire on 1st June. Speaking on the Ecotextile Talks podcast, Saini tells listeners the shift away from coal dependency in textile supply chains - despite years of sustainability commitments - remains a major challenge. She notes how coal continues to account for more than 31% of total energy consumption across the sector - a figure that has remained stubbornly unchanged for two decades. Referring to Cascale work on decarbonisations, she says, "We've done a lot of low hanging fruit to date, but we are really looking at and working with other organisations to find greater investment," Saini admitted. "It's expensive to change. A small supplier can't put up the investment needed to change over from coal to other sources." The former Nike executive, who was "plucked out of retirement" to stabilise the organisation following its rebrand from the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, and the departure of most recent CEO Colin Browne, pointed to Cascale's new Technical Advisory Council as a key governance achievement - among other initiatives - and she addresses criticism about potential 'conflicts of interest', given that brands and retailers dominate Cascale's dues-paying membership. On the Better Buying integration, Saini notes continued progress, while addressing that some suppliers had faced an "absurd" 723 audits annually while acknowledging that improvements in purchasing practices still remain sluggish. "Giving a set of data to a buyer or the sustainability lead is clearly not enough," she states, emphasising the need to identify who will act on supplier feedback. As Saini prepares for her departure she also tells listeners that incoming CEO Ying McGuire is prepared to deliver what "the whole industry is waiting for: impact, impact, impact". SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Worldly, the leading supply chain sustainability data and insights platform for the consumer goods and apparel industries, today announced the launch of Facility Data Manager (FDM) to help businesses more effectively track ongoing progress towards their decarbonization targets and make decisions that drive environmental improvements faster. As sustainability regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) emerge globally, FDM helps brands prepare for environmental reporting requirements by providing timely primary data that aligns with regulatory frameworks. Aligned with Cascale’s industry standard Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) — the most comprehensive assessment for environmental performance in the consumer goods industry — Worldly’s new Facility Data Manager enables manufacturing facilities to regularly share key impact data with their brand and retail partners. Brands can access quantitative data on energy, water, waste and other impacts submitted by dozens to thousands of manufacturing facilities, as frequently as monthly. With FDM, brands can see the waste, water and emissions they are uniquely responsible for within a single factory. This addresses a critical industry need for more timely, standardized, high-quality primary data and insights for assessing ongoing risks and opportunities for supply chain improvements and reporting sustainability progress
In partnership with Worldly, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) recently launched the Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) 4.0 tool.
Celebrating the launch of the Higg Facility Environment Module (FEM) 4.0 tool, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and Worldly hosted a series of webinars for global stakeholders.
Amina Razvi steps down as CEO of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
