Overview

Chinatown Community Development Center is a nonprofit that improves life in San Francisco's Chinatown and nearby low-income neighborhoods by developing and managing affordable housing and by offering resident services. It owns and operates 38 properties that house over 5,000 residents, and runs programs such as financial literacy workshops, tenants’ rights education, youth leadership, and civic engagement. The center combines housing development, resident services, planning, and advocacy, engaging residents in planning discussions and grassroots organizing to address displacement, open space, transportation, and fair land use. Funded by government contracts, grants, and private donations, its goal is to reduce displacement and strengthen communities through stable housing, education, and civic participation, leveraging a long history rooted in grassroots activism since the 1960s to differentiate itself through integrated housing, services, and advocacy.
