Caledonia Park School officially opens new playground. Caledonia Park School (CPS) officially opened its new playground September 16, after years of planning and hard work by the Caledonia Park Parents Association, as well as the City of Leduc and Black Gold School Division. A large group of families and students, along with members of the City of Leduc, Black Gold School Division, the Leduc Chamber of Commerce, and Caledonia Park School teachers and administration, gathered in the afternoon for the official opening ceremony. Recommended videos. "Today is an absolutely wonderful example of what can happen when partners come together to invest in children, in families, and obviously our community. This park was made possible through the partnership between the Caledonia Park School Parents Association, Black Gold School Division, and the City of Leduc, as well as the Government of Alberta. We want to say thank you to everyone who played a role in bringing this project to life," said CPS Principal Donavin Simmons. Leduc Councillor Shawn Raymond spoke at the ceremony on behalf of city council. "It's wonderful to mark this occasion at the beginning of a new school year where kids are coming in, families are coming together, and it's breathing life into this park again. A playground is more than just swings, tables and slides - its a place where the community can come together, connect young generations and old generations, and it's this opportunity that we're here to help celebrate today," Raymond said. Investing in parks and public spaces remains a priority for the City of Leduc, and we're continuously happy to be able to continue opening new parks in our community." BGSD Superintendent Michael Borgfjord spoke next. "We're really pleased and proud of the partnership, the collaboration with the City of Leduc, and the parents of previous and present administrations. These projects take a lot of time and planning. And when I think about all the excitement and joy that's going to be here for years to come... we're very proud to participate and support, and very thankful," said Borgfjord. Following the speeches, the ribbon was cut, with Simmons declaring the playground open to use. Kids rushed to play on the new features, while enjoying cake and refreshments as well.
