Overview

The City of Thomasville runs local government services for residents and businesses in southwest Georgia, from public safety to streets and parks. Its municipal utility system supplies electricity and natural gas alongside water, wastewater and solid waste services. Utility customers pay the city for these services, and transfers from the utility businesses help fund police and fire protection and other public services. Through the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia, the city also shares ownership of power generation plants that supply its electric system. Incorporated in 1831, the municipal government is headquartered in Thomasville, Georgia.
