Claro launches GPU as a service to expand corporate access to AI.

Claro launches GPU as a service to expand corporate access to AI. Partnership with Nvidia allows companies to pay for fractional GPU usage, without having to acquire complete infrastructure. 06/09/2026 12:48 Claro launched on Tuesday (9) the GPU as a Service, aimed at companies of all sizes that want to adopt artificial intelligence with flexible access to computing infrastructure. The product is the operator's latest move to position itself as a provider of technology and IT solutions - not just telecommunications. The launch accompanies a partnership with Nvidia, which accredited Claro as its first Cloud Partner in Brazil. The agreement places the operator in the official AI and accelerated computing ecosystem of the chip manufacturer, in addition to ensuring technical support for training and fine-tuning AI models using the infrastructure of the North American company. The partnership, as well as the GPU as a Service, are part of a broader strategy started last year, when Claro announced an investment of R$ 1 billion in the Claro Cloud platform. According to Roberta Godoi, CEO of Claro Brasil's SME unit, the goal is to transform the company into one of the country's leading cloud solutions providers. "Experimentation is easy and increasingly accessible for companies. The hard part is scaling," said Roberta Godoi during a press conference at Web Summit Rio. "We work on this pain of scale, respecting each company's moment." The problem Claro wants to solve. According to Mario Rachid Rego, CPO of Claro, the corporate GPU market still has a high entry cost: typically, the purchase requires a minimum package of eight units, with an approximate cost of US$ 30 thousand per GPU. That, the executive points out, makes the investment unfeasible for small and medium-sized companies. Large companies, although they have financial capacity, often end up contracting more processing than they actually use, generating idleness. "Claro itself, when it started its AI strategy, would have liked to have an alternative like this, because we had to buy the eight units, even without having use for so many," he said. Claro seeks to eliminate this barrier by fractioning computing capacity. The offering starts at 1 MIG/hour - the smallest fraction of an Nvidia GPU - allowing the customer to pay only for the volume and time of use needed. "The proposal is to bring a new model to the Brazilian market, democratizing companies' access to GPUs. With a secure infrastructure, companies of different sizes can use AI to sell more, gain operational efficiency and accelerate growth," said Mario. According to him, the model allows small companies to start testing AI applications without large initial investments. At the same time, it serves larger companies that need high computing capacity, but don't have enough scale to justify the minimum purchase required in the traditional model. Mario says that similar offerings already exist in other countries, usually operated by smaller companies and without local support. In this context, Claro bets on the differential of Portuguese-language service, billing in reais and the infrastructure of a company already established in the Brazilian market. Startups is in the routine of more than 30 thousand decision makers. Will you be left out?
