ClearSky Health

ClearSky Health

Operates inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and services

Overview

ClearSky Health operates inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) across multiple states, delivering post-acute rehabilitation services funded by Medicare and other insurers. It builds, acquires, and runs hospitals to form an integrated hospital-to-home rehabilitation network, growing through de novo facilities and acquisitions. Each facility uses a physician-led interdisciplinary team, provides at least 15 hours of therapy per week, 24/7 rehabilitative nursing, and a full range of therapies, along with home-like spaces and case management. The goal is to broaden access to comprehensive rehabilitation for patients with strokes, brain injuries, spinal injuries, and other complex conditions, especially in underserved communities.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • On May 6, 2026, ClearSky closed recapitalization capital for technology, staff, and facilities.
  • On August 20, 2026, it announced two more 36-bed hospitals in Arizona and South Carolina.
  • Palm Coast approved a leased ClearSky rehab hospital on July 21, 2026, boosting pipeline visibility.

What critics are saying

  • Bachman v. ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Mansfield LLC, filed April 28, 2025, keeps legal overhang alive.
  • Medicare reimbursement drives IRF economics; any CMS rate compression hits every ClearSky hospital immediately.
  • Delays in Wisconsin, Arizona, South Carolina, and Palm Coast permitting can stall growth and cash returns.

What makes ClearSky Health unique

  • ClearSky Health combines de novo builds and hospital-system partnerships across underserved markets.
  • Its 2026 footprint spans 15 hospitals in seven states, concentrating specialized IRF operations.
  • Physician-led interdisciplinary teams and 24/7 therapy create a higher-acuity rehabilitation niche.
