Concurrent Technologies Corporation has appointed Christopher J. Hamilton as president and chief executive officer, effective 29 June 2026. Hamilton succeeds Edward J. Sheehan Jr., who retires after 33 years with the organisation. Hamilton brings 30 years of industry experience, most recently leading an advanced technology group at Parsons Corporation developing counter-unmanned aerial systems solutions. He previously served as president and chief operating officer of CMX Technologies and held roles at Georgetown University and Titan Corporation. A former US Army intelligence officer, Hamilton held positions at the Defence Intelligence Agency and National Reconnaissance Office. CTC's board of directors conducted a comprehensive national search for the position. The nonprofit applied research organisation provides technical solutions for national security and defence applications.

The company said Tuesday it has provided program management and support, technical analysis and subject matter expertise across the SAF/IE portfolio, supporting policy development, strategy formulation and pilot projects. Among CTC's recent efforts is the Water Risk and Resilience Analysis Project, which develops methods to assess and mitigate water-related risks at Air Force installations. The company is also contributing to the Dynamic Resilience Innovation Framework for Technology Transition initiative, which advances nuclear, geothermal and hydrogen energy strategies. Additional projects include data governance efforts to enhance decision-making and strengthen partnerships, as well as water security initiatives at Cannon Air Force Base. How is CTC supporting future resilience efforts? CTC is contributing to the Department of War's Advanced Reactor Criteria and Baseline Understanding for Enterprise Scalability effort, which evaluates emerging technologies and potential use cases for resilience applications. The company is also supporting a Pacific Island Power Study aimed at strengthening expeditionary energy assurance and enabling Agile Combat Employment operations across the Indo-Pacific region. The partnership builds on CTC's broader support of Air Force energy resilience efforts. In April, the company secured an AFRL contract to develop and demonstrate a large-capacity energy storage system intended to strengthen mission resilience. CTC has also advanced the development of direct-current microgrid technology at Kirtland Air Force Base to boost energy efficiency and reliability.

What will the ctc-quantum Knight partnership focus on? The companies said Tuesday the collaboration will support the certification, integration and deployment of Quantum Knight's Computational Layer for Encrypted Access Restriction, or CLEAR, cryptosystem software, a software-driven encryption system built to protect sensitive data and communications from evolving cyber threats, including AI-enabled attacks and future quantum computing risks. "Post-quantum cybersecurity is no longer theoretical. Adversaries are already targeting infrastructure that was never designed for modern cyber warfare," said Edward Sheehan Jr., who is set to retire as president and CEO of CTC in June. "Our role as a non-profit, is to identify and deliver technologies that are ready for real-world deployment, and this partnership reflects that mission." What technology is being deployed? The CLEAR platform aligns with National Institute of Standards and Technology post-quantum cryptography requirements and supports deployment on existing infrastructure without requiring hardware replacement. It uses Quantum Knight's HyperKey technology, a FIPS 140-3 validated cryptographic module that operates entirely in software. HyperKey allows endpoints to authenticate identities, manage access permissions and encrypt data at the source, helping minimize attack surfaces and remove centralized points of vulnerability. The technology also supports ultra-low-latency communications and delivers encryption strength comparable to 10,240-bit symmetric keys. The effort also builds on CTC's expanding cybersecurity and resilience work, including its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Level 2 status, achieved in 2025. CTC recently secured a $21 million contract to provide cybersecurity support for facility control systems within the Marine Corps Installations Pacific region and separately received contracts from the Marine Corps and the Defense Logistics Agency, supporting energy resilience, cybersecurity and metal casting production efforts.
