Corsair RMe Power Supplies get a useful Platinum upgrade. Posted by Bahleem | Aug 18, 2026 Corsair RMe Power Supplies have received a useful upgrade for gamers and PC builders who want better efficiency and added protection for modern graphics cards. The new RM850e and RM1000e models now come with a ThermalProtect PCIe 5.1 600W 12V-2x6 cable. The updated Corsair RMe Power Supplies now carry a Cybenetics Platinum rating, with up to 91% overall efficiency. This should help the units run cooler and use power more efficiently while providing enough output for powerful gaming PCs. The biggest addition is Corsair's ThermalProtect 12V-2x6 cable. It includes temperature monitoring hardware built into a cable comb located around 30 mm from the GPU connector. If the cable temperature rises above 65°C, the system can shut down the GPU to help prevent possible damage. The cable also uses dual-tone connectors on both ends. This gives users a simple visual way to check whether the connector is properly plugged in. Compact and quiet design. The new Corsair RMe Power Supplies are only 140 mm long, so they should fit easily into many ATX PC cases. They also use a fully modular design, allowing builders to connect only the cables they actually need. Corsair has included a ZERO RPM fan mode, which stops the cooling fan during low and moderate loads. This can make the power supply quieter during everyday tasks, while a custom fan curve helps manage cooling when the system is working harder. The RM850e and RM1000e are ATX 3.1 certified and PCIe 5.1 compliant. They also use 105°C capacitors for improved long-term durability. Both models come with a seven-year warranty. The included cables are also designed to be flexible, making them easier to route and manage inside a PC. Black and white options. Corsair is offering the new RMe models in both black and white. The ThermalProtect cable is intended for graphics cards with a native 12V-2x6 connector, so buyers should check their GPU before purchasing. The updated Corsair RMe Power Supplies are available now through Corsair's authorized retailers, distributors, and online store. Regional pricing varies and can change.
Corsair launches its RM1000E PSU with ThermalProtect 12V-2x6 cables. Corsair launches its first PSU with ThermalProtect 12V-2x6 cables. Corsair has officially released its new RM1000E power supply, promising users "better cables and cable management" through its use of "ultra-flexible debossed cables". This PSU also features ThermalProtect, using a specialised 12V-2x6 cable that can prevent cable melting incidents before damage can occur. ThermalProtect is a patent-pending Corsair technology. The new RM1000E is available in black and white, with both models achieving Cybenetics Platinum-certified efficiency levels. This PSU is fully modular and features a zero-RPM fan mode under low-power loads. How does Corsair ThermalProtect work? Corsair's new PSU cable is rated for 600W and uses flexible debossed cables with low-profile cable combs. These cables are backed by a two-year warranty and are available in black and white. Once Corsair's Over Temperature Protection (OTP) tech activates, users need to shut down their PCs and allow their 12V-2x6 cable to cool down. Once their cables have cooled, users should check for damage and reseat them. Users should ensure that their cables are pressed in correctly. There should be an audible click when your cable's retention connector clamps down. Additionally, users should not be able to see the grey power connectors on Corsair's 12V-2x6 cables. Corsair's OTP tech activates if temperatures exceed 65 degrees. Corsair's detection hardware is located 30mm from the GPU connection. Corsair claims that this tech can shut down GPUs in "milliseconds". Corsair's new RM1000E PSU is available now. Additionally, a new 850W version of this PSU is also available. Both models are available now from Corsair's website. Furthermore, Corsair's new ThermalProtect PCIe 5.1 (12V-2x6) cables are also available standalone from Corsair's website for £14.99.
