Cosun is a Dutch agro-industrial cooperative owned by about 8,100 sugar beet, potato, chicory, and other crop growers. It processes crops into food, animal feed, bio-based products, and green energy, using its diversified group of companies. Its approach includes Aviko (large-scale potato processing), Sensus (inulin from chicory), and Duynie (upcycling co-products into animal feed). The company pursues plant-based innovations under its Unlock 30 strategy, investing in high-quality proteins such as fava bean protein and other sustainable ingredients funded by subsidies for new facilities. Cosun differentiates itself through collective farmer ownership, long history, and a diversified, integrated structure that turns raw crops into multiple value streams rather than focusing on a single product. Its goal is to shape the future of food and materials by expanding plant-based solutions and sustainable ingredients for a changing world.

Copper has partnered with Royal Green Appliance Companies to bring its Charlie induction range to showrooms across New York, New Jersey, and Florida. This marks Copper's first retail partnership. Charlie is the world's first battery-equipped induction range. It plugs into a standard 120-volt outlet whilst using its integrated 5 kWh battery to deliver high-power performance typically requiring 240-volt appliances. The battery allows cooking during power outages. The range will be available at Royal Green's Tribeca showroom in Manhattan, as well as locations in White Plains, Long Island, Parsippany, Fort Myers, and Naples. Charlie is priced starting at $5,999. Regular in-showroom cooking demonstrations will allow customers to experience the range firsthand.
Planetary, a Swiss fermentation company, has raised CHF 22 million (CHF 16 million in equity plus CHF 6 million in credit), bringing total funding to approximately CHF 32 million. The Series A round was led by Radikal Capital and Oetker Ventures, with participation from Royal Cosun, arc investors, Green Generation Fund and existing backers including Astanor Ventures. The company operates a full-stack platform spanning bioprocess design and industrial manufacturing. Its strategy centres on licensing technology to agro-industrial partners, enabling conversion of low-value streams into high-value proteins, fibres and enzymes. Planetary is expanding sugar-to-protein technology globally, targeting ultra-low-cost mycoprotein production below $1 per kilogram. The company has launched mycoprotein products with ALDI Suisse and is expanding across Europe. Production is operational in Aarberg, Switzerland.
Royal Cosun has completed its investment in PeakBridge's Growth Fund II, strengthening its position in the agri-foodtech sector. The investment supports Cosun's strategy to accelerate growth in plant-based ingredients and sustainable food solutions. PeakBridge is an impact fund focusing on scalable, patented technologies addressing environmental and nutritional challenges in the agri-food sector. The partnership will leverage Cosun's expertise and network to support PeakBridge-funded companies whilst enhancing Cosun's presence in agri-foodtech. The investment targets innovative companies in ingredient innovations, alternative protein technologies, digitisation and novel farming systems. Maaike van den Maagdenberg, Director of Cosun Corporate Development, stated the move aligns with Cosun's growth and transformation objectives in green and health-promoting ingredients.
Enzymit and Cosun achieve pilot-scale biomanufacturing of hyaluronic acid. Enzymit, a synbio company pioneering cell-free biomanufacturing, has partnered with Cosun, a leader in sustainable plant-based ingredients, to successfully produce hyaluronic acid (HA) at a 200-liter pilot scale. Using an enzyme-only, cell-free process, they generated multi-kilogram quantities of high-purity HA, demonstrating greater efficiency and consistency than traditional fermentation methods. Hyaluronic acid is a highly valuable biopolymer used in dermal fillers, wound healing, drug delivery, and tissue engineering. With the global market projected to reach nearly $16 billion by 2035, the demand for high-quality biomaterials is rapidly growing. Enzymit's innovative process is the first to enable manufacturers to control HA's size during production. Using standardized enzymatic steps, they can produce HA ranging from about 10 kDa to 4 MDa with narrow size distribution, simply by adjusting process parameters - no need to change enzymes or organisms. Marie Dobenesque, CTO of Cosun RD&I, said, "We're proud to support Enzymit's journey from lab to pilot scale. Their process development and factory operation were successful using existing assets, showing this cell-free technology is becoming an industrial reality in record time." This platform leverages AI-designed enzymes to synthesize complex bioproducts faster, cleaner, and more efficiently - without living cells. Gideon Lapidoth, CEO of Enzymit, emphasizes that this breakthrough not only advances HA production but also signals a future where molecular biomanufacturing is driven by precision, removing biological bottlenecks.
Revyve's proteins can replace eggs and certain additives in processed foods, helping firms clean up labels and ensure security of supply.
