CCovestro makes high-tech polymers, such as polyurethanes and polycarbonates, that are used in everyday products like cars, building insulation, electronics, and footwear. Its materials work by forming durable plastics and foams that add strength, lightness, and other useful properties to end products. Covestro became independent from Bayer in 2015, and now operates as a standalone materials company that focuses on innovation and sustainability. It differentiates itself through its commitment to a circular economy, aiming to make its operations and products fully circular, and by forming strategic partnerships (for example with Abu Dhabi’s XRG) to accelerate growth and sustainability goals. The company’s goal is to provide advanced materials while reducing environmental impact and moving toward a fully circular materials system.

German Covestro showcases sensor integration technologies in smart clothing during ADIPEC 2026 * Monday, November 2, 2026 8:39 PM * 2 min read Abu Dhabi, November 2 / WAM / The German company Covestro showcased, during its first participation in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference ADIPEC 2026, advanced technologies for integrating sensors into smart clothing and textiles, along with a range of advanced material solutions and innovative applications aimed at the energy, healthcare, and automotive sectors, as part of its focus on three main pillars: sustainability, innovation, and partnerships. Przemysław Jendrysik, head of global corporate communications at Covestro, told the Emirates News Agency WAM that the company's participation in ADIPEC 2026 comes for the first time as part of the XRG group, with the aim of showcasing the potential of its solutions and diverse applications, noting that the company, headquartered in the German city of Leverkusen, is working on developing advanced materials that meet the requirements of multiple sectors. He explained that the company is displaying applications for printing materials used in the clothing and textile industry, with the potential to employ them in integrating sensors into smart clothing and wearable devices, enabling the development of products that combine advanced material properties with smart technologies. In the context of showcasing future applications of materials, he pointed to a lightweight jacket made of thermoplastic polyurethane TPU, representing a design study that explores the potential of this material in developing innovative products and highlights its properties in creating designs that combine light weight and versatility. He moved on to the company's solutions directed at the energy sector, explaining that they include specialized materials for pipeline applications, including protective coatings that help reduce corrosion and protect pipelines in harsh operating environments, as well as insulation materials used in pipeline systems, especially liquefied natural gas LNG pipelines, in addition to materials and devices dedicated to pipeline inspection and testing applications, including PIG devices used to inspect pipelines from the inside. On the sustainability axis, he noted that the company is showcasing a project for material recycling and producing polycarbonate for use in manufacturing new automotive headlights, highlighting the potential for reusing materials and expanding their use in industrial applications. Regarding the design details and colors used in the displayed models, Jendrysik explained that their selection aims to highlight the properties of different materials and show the multilayer structure and complex technical details of insulation systems, as well as clarify the complex structure of cable coating applications and their components, making the properties and details of these solutions clearer to visitors. He stressed that what distinguishes Covestro is that it goes beyond its traditional role as a materials supplier to direct collaboration with customers to develop integrated solutions, including manufacturing aspects and mechanisms for integrating materials into workflows and production processes, contributing to raising efficiency and accelerating manufacturing and implementation processes by aligning material properties with customers' manufacturing requirements. Regarding regional expansion plans, he affirmed the company's interest in growing its business and strengthening its presence in the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf region, noting that the UAE and Gulf countries represent promising growth markets and important strategic centers for reaching African, Middle Eastern, and Asian markets, which drives Covestro to expand its presence in the region, enhance the spread of its business, and explore new opportunities for cooperation and partnership building. * Economy * United Arab Emirates (ARE) * Abu Dhabi * ADIPEC 2026 * Covestro * Przemysław Jendrysik
Covestro to showcase cast elastomer expertise at UTECH Asia / PU China 2026. - Special focus on Vulkollan(R): Applications in material handling, railways, robotics and agriculture, alongside options with a lower carbon footprint including chemical recycling - 40 years of Baulé(R) casting machines: Anniversary marked with a dedicated Vulkollan(R) processing machine on display Under the motto "The Material Effect," Covestro will showcase its cast polyurethane expertise at UTECH Asia / PU China 2026, taking place in Shanghai from November 3 to 5. The trade fair brings together material suppliers, processors and application experts from across the polyurethanes industry." At UTECH Asia / PU China, PUdaily will demonstrate the material effect of cast polyurethane, turning materials, processing and applications into tangible value for its customers," said Thomas Braig, Head of Elastomers at Covestro. "By combining material expertise with processing know-how and application knowledge, we help customers develop solutions that meet their specific performance and sustainability requirements." Special focus on Vulkollan(R) A key highlight of Covestro's booth will be Vulkollan(R), a high-performance polyurethane elastomer used across a wide range of industries. Applications include wheels for automated guided vehicles (AGVs), railway buffer elements, shockabsorbing and protective components for robotic feet and joints, and agricultural rollers. Covestro will also spotlight more sustainable options within its Vulkollan(R) portfolio, including Vulkollan(R) CQ elastomers. By incorporating mass-balanced or lowemission raw materials, Vulkollan(R) CQ can reduce the carbon footprint by up to 35 percent compared with the conventional grade. 1 In parallel, Covestro is progressing on end-of-life solutions for Vulkollan(R) through a new pilot plant for the chemical recycling of high-performance elastomers at the Leverkusen site. In addition, Covestro will launch its Desmodur(R) 15 R prepolymer series, expanding its portfolio alongside the established Desmodur(R) 15 S series. Prepolymers are keybuilding blocks in cast polyurethane elastomers, helping determine the performance characteristics of the finished material. The new series will offer customers additional options for high-performance cast elastomer applications thanks to a specific polyol. Together, these solutions expand Covestro's portfolio for high-performance cast polyurethane applications, offering customers greater flexibility to meet diverse application requirements, with selected options also enabling carbon footprint reductions. 40 years of Baulé(R) casting machines At UTECH Asia / PU China 2026, Covestro will showcase a new Baulé(R) casting machine specifically designed for the Vulkollan(R) process. This year also marks 40 years of Baulé(R) machines, first introduced in 1986 for cast elastomer processing. Building on this experience, Covestro combines materials, processing and application expertise to support the development and production of high-performance cast polyurethane parts. Solutions across industries Beyond these focus areas, Covestro offers cast elastomer solutions for a broad range of other industries and applications, including sealing, construction, oil and gas, and mining.
Covestro holds 23rd annual Raise the Roof Build with Habitat for Humanity. Posted: Oct 22, 2026 / 11:04 PM EDT Updated: Oct 22, 2026 / 11:04 PM EDT ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WOWK) - The sound of hammers and the sight of hard hats were at a house in St. Albans Thursday for a community partnership that has lasted for over two decades. The work is part of Covestro's 23rd annual Raise the Roof Build with Habitat for Humanity of Kanawha and Putnam County. Since 2003, Covestro has partnered with Habitat for Humanity, donating toward building materials and providing employees with paid time off to volunteer. One builder said the sweat and the exhaustion are always worthwhile. "The most rewarding part to me is when we get to dedicate the home to someone. I got to be a part of that for the home next door a couple of years ago," said Gabe Young, an electrical engineer with Covestro. "And to be able to work alongside of some of the people who get to own these homes, that's a big reward because they have put in so much sweat equity themselves." In 23 years, the partnership has led to the building of 20 homes in the region.
