Credit Union of Colorado

Credit Union of Colorado

Member-owned not-for-profit financial cooperative

Overview

Credit Union of Colorado is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by its members. It provides basic banking services and loans with the goal of returning earnings to members through better rates and lower fees rather than profits. It began in 1934 as the Colorado State Employees Credit Union and expanded membership to include broader public sector workers in Colorado, changing its name to Credit Union of Colorado in 2007. It offers mortgage loans early on and obtained NCUSIA insurance in 1978. It now serves over 160,000 members with more than $2.5 billion in assets and runs the Credit Union of Colorado Foundation to support community giving and scholarships. Its mission is “Here to Help,” focusing on member needs and community service rather than shareholder profits.
