DAVIS Construction supports community food drive through inaugural Canstruction event.

DAVIS Construction supports community food drive through inaugural Canstruction event. Construction Owners Editorial Team Construction Industry Highlights. * DAVIS Construction participated in the first Canstruction Frederick charity competition. * The company partnered with Bates Architects and The Common Market Co-Op on a canned food sculpture. * The team's "Spires and the Creek" entry received awards for Structural Ingenuity and Best Meal. * More than 25,000 canned food items were collected during the event for donation to the Frederick Rescue Mission. * The competition raises awareness of food insecurity while engaging architecture, engineering and construction professionals. Construction professionals are increasingly participating in community service initiatives that combine design expertise with charitable giving. DAVIS Construction joined industry partners in the inaugural Canstruction Frederick event, helping create a large-scale canned food sculpture that will contribute thousands of food donations to the Frederick Rescue Mission. Design and construction collaboration. DAVIS Construction worked alongside Bates Architects and The Common Market Co-Op to design and assemble a sculpture titled "Spires and the Creek." The display was inspired by well-known Frederick landmarks, including the city's historic skyline, the Catoctin Mountains and Carroll Creek Linear Park. DAVIS provided construction planning and technical support during the project, assisting with structural considerations such as load distribution, leveling methods and assembly techniques needed to construct the installation entirely from canned food. The completed sculpture earned awards for Structural Ingenuity and Best Meal during the competition. Community impact. Canstruction is an international charitable program that brings together architecture, engineering and construction teams to build artistic structures using canned food, which is later donated to local hunger relief organizations. According to event organizers, more than 25,000 canned goods were used during the inaugural Frederick competition. Following the event, the food will be donated through the Frederick Rescue Mission to support local hunger relief efforts. Why it matters. Community engagement initiatives such as Canstruction demonstrate how construction firms can apply design, engineering and project coordination skills beyond traditional job sites. For contractors, owners and design professionals, these collaborations strengthen industry partnerships while supporting local organizations through large-scale charitable projects.

DAVIS Construction hires CWS for high-security Radio Frequency Window Film installation project.

DAVIS Construction hires CWS for high-security Radio Frequency Window Film installation project. Get a Quote Complete the form and Commercial Window Shield'll be in touch. HERNDON, Va. - DAVIS Construction has hired Commercial Window Shield for a Radio Frequency [RF] Shielding window film installation project for a high-security federal government contractor. The project involves installing the radio frequency film on all the exterior windows on 2 1/2 floors of a building in suburban Washington, D.C. At the tenant's request, the RF film will include a solar control component. DAVIS recently completed a buildout of the space for the tenant. During a final discussion between DAVIS and the tenant it was decided to add the radio frequency window film. The decision posed a number of significant hurdles for Commercial Window Film installers. The space already was furnished for immediate occupancy by the tenant so furniture will have to be moved for CWS to gain access to the windows. Also, because of the sensitive nature of the tenant's work and its fully operational status, the installers will be accompanied by security escorts during the entire project. In modern commercial buildings, glass surfaces can allow radio frequency signals to pass in and out of controlled environments. Radio frequency shielding window film helps mitigate potential pathways for signal interception, data leakage or unauthorized communication in spaces handling sensitive information. The solar control component will handle solar heat, glare, and ultraviolet exposure that can affect occupant comfort and building performance. The project also has a tight deadline. Work will begin on June 22 and must be completed by July 17, the date when the tenant will move into the space. Over its more than 40 years as one of the country's leading window film installers, Commercial Window Shield has a stellar reputation for handling complex installation projects and completing them on time Commercial Window Shield has a history working with some of the country's top general contractors, DAVIS among them. The company has also completed security, solar control, radio frequency [RF] shielding, switchable smart and privacy window film projects for Harvey-Cleary, HITT, Gilbane Building Co., rand Construction, Bognet Construction, D Watts Construction, DPR Construction and May Construction. The company's major focus in its more than 40 years in business has been security and solar control window film installation. Its clients have included the U.S. Capitol, FBI headquarters, the Pentagon, all House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch headquarters, the United Nations, the Willis [former Sears] Tower, O'Hare and Seattle international airports, and the Philadelphia and Denver mints. What its customers say. "I'll Feel More Comfortable Knowing The Installation Has Been Done Correctly If Commercial Window Shield Completes The Work." Phyllis Liebman, Senior Construction Manager, Vornado/Charles E. Smith
