DataKind mobilizes data scientists to solve social problems by organizing collaborative events called DataDives, where volunteers work with social organizations to analyze data and develop data-driven solutions. Its work is supported by chapters in multiple countries and partnerships with major funders, along with open-source tools and resources that nonprofits can use to harness data for impact. Unlike groups that engage data professionals only in the private sector, DataKind concentrates on applying analytics to social challenges, scaling through a global network of volunteers, chapters, and partners. The goal is to drive measurable social change by turning data insights into practical programs and outcomes for nonprofits and communities.

Lauren Woodman USAFacts, the nonpartisan government-data organization founded by former Microsoft CEO and current chairman and owner of the LA Clippers, Steve Ballmer, has appointed Lauren Woodman as its next president. Ms. Woodman is a technology and data executive with more than 25 years of experience leading teams and initiatives at the intersection of technology, development, and education. As USAFacts expands its use of innovative technologies to analyze and present federal, state, and local government data, Ms. Woodman's experience will help guide the organization's next phase of growth. The opportunity now is to ensure that transparency, reliable data, and public understanding grow together."
