Designed Conveyor Systems

Custom conveyor system design and integration

Overview

Designed Conveyor Systems (DCS) is a systems integrator that builds and implements custom material-handling and automated conveyor setups for warehouses and distribution centers. They provide turnkey, end-to-end services—from consulting and engineering design to project management and installation—for clients in e-commerce, retail, pharma, and more. A core offering is DATUM, a warehouse execution system (WES) that unifies order planning, equipment coordination, and real-time operational optimization. It connects with a facility’s existing WMS and ERP to control automated equipment such as sortation systems, ASRS, and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). DCS differentiates itself by delivering brand-agnostic, tailored solutions rather than pre-built systems, emphasizing collaboration across the entire project lifecycle and offering 24/7 support. Its goal is to help customers automate and optimize large-scale warehouse operations with customized, integrated systems and ongoing support.

Designed Conveyor Systems wins u.s. Postal Service Supplier Performance award.

Designed Conveyor Systems wins u.s. Postal Service Supplier Performance award. June 23 2026 07:55 AM Franklin, Tenn. - June 17, 2026 - Designed Conveyor Systems (DCS), a leading systems integrator and consulting firm specializing in material handling and warehouse automation, received a Supplier Excellence Award from the United States Postal Service (USPS) Supply Management organization as part of its 2025 Supplier Performance Awards. The award was presented to DCS leaders on Tuesday, May 5 during the Postal Service's 36th Annual Supplier Performance Awards Ceremony. The formal ceremony was a part of the National Postal Forum (NPF), recently held in the Phoenix Convention Center, Phoenix, Arizona. The Supplier Excellence Award category recognizes suppliers who demonstrate strong contract performance, supply chain best practices, and a commitment to operational excellence across USPS initiatives. DCS was selected from a broad network of more than 11,000 suppliers supporting USPS operations nationwide. "DCS is incredibly thankful for our supplier relationship with the United States Postal Service," said Matt Ferguson, President of DCS. "This Supplier Excellence Award recognition underscores the strength of our collaboration and our shared commitment to execution at a consistently high level." "We are honored to receive this recognition from the Postal Service's Supply Management organization," added Curt Kincaid, Executive Vice President of Solutions & Growth at DCS. "We look forward to furthering our trusted relationship in other successful project implementations in the future." DCS DELIVERS SUCCESSFUL USPS DEPLOYMENT IN PHOENIX The Postal Service's network modernization plan is a comprehensive strategy to modernize the postal network and improve service performance. The strategic plan aims to help the organization achieve financial sustainability and operational excellence. The initiative focuses on modernizing infrastructure, updating mail standards, and streamlining the national logistics and delivery network. As part of the ongoing supplier relationship, DCS played a key role in advancing major material handling and automation technology through its work at the USPS Regional Processing and Distribution Center in Phoenix. The greenfield project included a scalable, high-throughput system designed to improve package flow, increase operational visibility, and support evolving volume demands. DCS created a fully integrated solution to USPS requirements that combined conveyor systems, controls, and software. The implementation resulted in the Matrix Regional Sorter (MaRS), a high-capacity, next-generation sorting solution. These football-field-sized systems integrate extensive conveyor networks, intelligent controls, and automated sorting logic to process more than one million packages per day. According to USPS, by enabling faster, more accurate routing at scale, the Matrix sorter significantly improves operational efficiency - by as much as 75% - while also reducing the facility footprint required for sorting operations. The result is a more streamlined, high-throughput environment that accelerates regional package movement, shortens delivery times, and supports broader USPS network modernization efforts. The implementation required close coordination with USPS stakeholders, phased execution, and a design approach that balanced immediate performance gains with long-term flexibility. Executed on-time and under budget, the new Phoenix facility is among the Postal Service's highest performing operations and hosted multiple tours during the NPF show, noted Satyen Pathak, DCS Senior Account Executive and primary point of contact for the USPS account. "DCS is currently applying the same facility design strategy to a second USPS site in Memphis," said Pathak. "Our approach focuses on integrating scalable technologies, optimizing workflows, and enabling data-driven decision-making to ensure long-term value and adaptability. These capabilities are especially critical as USPS continues to add capacity and increase parcel handling services for its customers."
