DiligenceSquared, a Y Combinator-backed startup, has raised $5 million in seed funding led by Relentless to make merger and acquisition research more affordable using AI. The company aims to provide consultancy-quality commercial diligence at a fraction of traditional costs. Founded by Frederik Hansen (formerly Blackstone) and Søren Biltoft (ex-BCG), DiligenceSquared uses AI voice agents to interview customers of potential acquisition targets. The startup claims it can deliver analysis for $50,000, compared to the $500,000 to $1 million charged by firms like McKinsey or Bain for similar work. Senior human consultants verify the accuracy of AI-generated insights. Since launching in October, the company has completed projects for several major private equity firms. Its main competitor, Bridgetown Research, raised $19 million in February.
