Universal's 'Other Mommy' Expected to Top Weekend Box Office Through Oct. 11.

Universal's 'Other Mommy' Expected to Top Weekend Box Office Through Oct. 11. October 9, 2026 As Halloween approaches, Universal Pictures, in association with Blumhouse and Atomic Pictures - co-producers of Backrooms - have a new horror movie, Other Mommy, about an 8-year-old girl who is stalked by a malevolent force that takes the physical form of her mother. Starring Arabella Olivia Clark as the girl and Jessica Chastain as both mothers, the movie is projected to top the weekend box office with more than $28.5 million through Oct. 11, according to estimates from BoxOfficeReport.com. The tally should easily lead a crowded box office with last weekend's No. 1, Amazon MGM Studios' Verity, adding $14 million in projected second-weekend ticket sales. Sony/Columbia Pictures' Resident Evil should round out the weekend podium with a projected $8.9 million in fourth-weekend revenue. Paramount's Brad Pitt actioner Heart of the Beast is projected to add $7.4 million in third-weekend revenue, followed by Sony/Columbia Pictures' new release The Social Reckoning, director Aaron Sorkin's follow-up to 2010's The Social Network. Reckoning, which stars Oscar winner Mikey Madison (Anora) and Emmy winners Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong, is expected to open to $6 million in ticket sales - far behind its predecessor's $22.5 million. Box office returnees include Universal/DreamWorks Animation's Forgotten Island with $4.7 million in projected third-weekend revenue; A24's Primetime with $4 million in projected third-weekend ticket sales; Universal's The Odyssey with $3.1 million in projected 13th-week revenue; Warner's Digger with $2.7 million in projected second-weekend ticket sales, and Angel Studios' new release, Angel and the Badman, starring Tommy Lee Jones, with a projected $2.5 million in weekend revenue. Cineverse is partnering with Fathom Entertainment to re-release Guillermo del Toro's 2006 fantasy drama Pan's Labyrinth, which is projected to generate $3.2 million in revenue. The movie generated $83.8 million at the global box office 20 years ago, including $37.6 million across North American screens. With inflation, those tallies would be worth $138.9 million and $62.5 million, respectively, today. * Universal's 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2' Expected to Top Weekend Box Office Through Dec. 7 The Universal Pictures/Blumhouse sequel Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is projected to top the weekend box office through Dec. 7. The tally could push the... * Universal's 'Minions & Monsters' Set to Top July 4 Weekend Box Office Universal Pictures' Minions & Monsters, the third "Minions" movie and seventh theatrical release in the "Despicable Me" franchise, is set to top the Independence Day weekend box office with $78 million in North American revenue for five days, and $51...
