Utility files CERCLA cost recovery action based on PFOA/PFOS hazardous substance listings. April 22, 2026 Perspectives On April 3, a North Carolina utility filed a CERCLA section 107 cost recovery action against DuPont and affiliated entities, to recover response costs associated with a Fayetteville chemical plant's alleged contamination of public water system supplies and wastewater treatment plants with PFOA and PFOS. The action is predicated on EPA's listing of PFOA and PFOS as CERCLA hazardous substances in 2024, which was reaffirmed by EPA in September 2025 during litigation challenging those listings. The lawsuit is an example of how plaintiffs in existing state tort law actions seeking damages for PFAS contamination are now using the 2024 CERCLA listings as a means of bypassing traditional tort causation requirements. The plaintiff in this action, Aqua North Carolina Inc., had filed tort claims against the DuPont entities in 2022, only to have a number of its claims dismissed by the federal district court in 2024. That state law action also remains pending. The complaint in the new CERCLA action (Aqua North Carolina Inc. v. Corteva Inc., et al., USDC E.D.N.C. Case No. 5:26-cv-00218) can be found here.
DuPont(TM) Cyrel(R) FAST achieves GreenCircle certification for 20% energy reduction. DuPont(TM) Cyrel(R) Flexographic Solutions has confirmed that its Cyrel(R) FAST thermal platemaking workflow has achieved Certified Energy Savings recognition from GreenCircle, further validating the system's measurable environmental benefits and reinforcing the role of DuPont(TM) Cyrel(R) as a leader in high-performance, lower-impact flexographic printing technologies. GreenCircle Certified, the internationally recognised third-party certification entity that independently verifies the validity of sustainability claims, confirmed that the Cyrel(R) FAST workflow delivers verified reductions in energy consumption compared to traditional solvent-based platemaking systems. The certification provides converters and brand owners with credible assurance of the system's ability to lower operational energy use while maintaining high-performance output. "Cyrel(R) FAST has redefined what sustainable responsible platemaking looks like through its completely solvent-free process. Not only does the system simplify operations, but by eliminating the need to handle, distill, and dispose of washout solvents, it also significantly reduces environmental burden while providing a cleaner, safer working environment," said Tucker Norton, Vice President & General Manager of Printing & Films. Energy savings are calculated by comparing the power consumption of a Cyrel(R) FAST Thermal Platemaking workflow, and the power consumption of a Solvent Platemaking Workflow, based on 96-hour testing cycle. According to the analysis, the Cyrel(R) FAST workflow meets all the necessary qualifications to be certified with 20% less energy consumption than traditional solvent-based processes. DuPont's published life cycle assessments show that Cyrel(R) enhanced flexographic printing delivers environmental benefits over gravure, further reducing the carbon footprint of packaging. The same report also includes a comparison between Cyrel(R) FAST and traditional solvent processing. The thermal system simultaneously delivers exceptional efficiency gains, including up to 75% faster platemaking, streamlined workflow steps, and consistent high-quality plate output, all achieved while dramatically reducing the process's environmental footprint. Notably, Cyrel(R) FAST reduces volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions by up to 99.8% compared to conventional solvent workflows and lowers global warming potential by 48%, offering a proven pathway for converters seeking to reduce their Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions. * Share on Facebook * Share on Twitter * Share on Whatsapp * Share on LinkedIn * Send link to friend
DuPont has launched AmberChrom XT20 SL and XT30 SL chromatography resins to streamline purification workflows for oligonucleotide and peptide therapeutics. The slurried resins eliminate the hydration step before column packing, reducing preparation time and equipment requirements. The new products expand DuPont's bioprocessing portfolio as demand grows for oligonucleotide and peptide therapies treating genetic disorders, metabolic conditions and cancers. Column packing typically requires significant capital investment in specialised equipment, making preparation steps a key operational challenge for manufacturers. The XT20 SL offers high resolution for complex separations, whilst XT30 SL enables optimised separations at higher flow rates. Both maintain the purity and yield standards required for clinical and commercial production whilst helping manufacturers improve downstream processing efficiency.

DuPont contributes water treatment technologies and expertise to increase water access in Kenya. Published: 13 Apr 2026 March 30, 2026, Marking World Water Day 2026, DuPont announced the successful commissioning of a multi-technology water treatment facility in Baringo County, Kenya. The project brings a dependable source of safe drinking water to the rural community of Kampi Ya Samaki, where residents have long struggled with contaminated water supplies. Developed in collaboration with ChildFund, the plant integrates advanced purification systems, including DuPont(TM) IntegraTec(TM) ultrafiltration modules and DuPont(TM) FilmTec(TM) reverse osmosis elements. These technologies are designed to remove harmful contaminants such as excess fluoride, ensuring the delivery of clean and potable water to the community. The newly established facility is expected to significantly improve living conditions in the region. In addition to directly supplying the local population, the project will extend its reach to nearly 20,000 people through a distribution network serving approximately 1,500 households, three schools, and a healthcare center. This expansion is anticipated to strengthen public health outcomes and reduce dependence on unsafe water sources. The initiative was implemented through a multi-stakeholder partnership involving the County Government of Baringo, the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency, Davis & Shirtliff, Hand in Hand Eastern Africa, and the Central Rift Community Development Program. This collaborative approach ensures that the project aligns with regional development priorities and supports long-term sustainability. Beyond infrastructure, the project reflects a broader effort to deploy scalable and community-driven water solutions across Africa. DuPont Water Solutions, together with ChildFund and supporting organizations, has been working to replicate similar models in Kenya and Zambia, utilizing advanced filtration technologies to address issues such as iron bacteria, turbidity, and water discoloration. Company representatives emphasized that combining technical expertise with local partnerships is key to delivering durable solutions. The initiative is expected to generate wider socio-economic benefits, including improved health, lower healthcare costs, and better school attendance particularly among women and girls who are often most affected by water scarcity. Globally, DuPont Water Solutions technologies currently support the purification of more than 50 million gallons of water per minute across over 100 countries. The Kampi Ya Samaki project highlights how innovative water treatment solutions can address critical challenges while creating sustainable community impact. Precedence Research Pvt.
