Dutch

Subscription-based online veterinary care.

Overview

Dutch.com provides online veterinary care through a subscription model. Pet owners access licensed veterinarians 24/7 via video calls, messaging, and tailored treatment plans, with prescriptions shipped to their home. The service covers up to five pets and includes ongoing follow-ups, aiming to offer affordable, convenient veterinary care without trips to a clinic. Unlike typical vet services, Dutch.com combines unlimited telemedicine access with home-delivery prescriptions and a fixed monthly or annual price starting at $7, making care simpler and cost-effective for households with multiple pets.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Dutch’s 2026 Pet Care Gap Report says 75 million owners skip care for cost.
  • Tara Lipinski joined June 8, 2026, giving Dutch mainstream consumer attention.
  • Its annual plan at $132 undercuts a typical veterinary visit and drives subscription adoption.

What critics are saying

  • Pet telehealth remains state-fragmented; Dutch still prescribes only in qualifying states.
  • Chewy, Vetster, and Airvet pressure Dutch on price, speed, and reach.
  • If in-person clinics or regulators tighten VCPR rules, Dutch's prescribing model weakens.

What makes Dutch unique

  • Dutch combines unlimited vet video visits with prescription shipping in most states.
  • AB 1399 made California a legal beachhead for remote VCPR and prescribing.
  • Its subscription now bundles telehealth and insurance through Pets Best, reducing friction.

Dutch Pet ranks No. 120 on Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing companies

Dutch Pet, a veterinary telemedicine provider, ranked No. 120 on Inc. magazine's 2026 list of America's fastest-growing private companies. The Oakland-based company also placed ninth in the San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont metro area, 16th in healthcare and medical, and 22nd in California. Dutch operates a 24/7 virtual veterinary care platform connecting pet parents with licensed veterinarians through video and chat consultations. The service addresses barriers to veterinary care, with over 30% of Americans living in areas Dutch defines as "vet deserts." The company has doubled revenue for two consecutive years and is currently growing approximately 20% month over month. Since launching in July 2021, Dutch has facilitated 3.7 million telehealth veterinary interactions and expanded to treat more than 150 conditions. Memberships start at $11 monthly and include unlimited virtual veterinary care access.
